First, the author says at the beginning the book is being offered for free- clearly it is not free on Amazon.
From there I managed to get to about page 16 before I simply closed the book. It became clear that this author does not know Reiki as I do, and therefore would be pointless to continue trying to gain any information from him.
What really red-flagged this book was him saying that Reiki is, "only useful for relieving stress or providing Spiritual comfort." CLEARLY, he does not know Reiki the way I know Reiki. However, I have also learned that many people force "limitations" on themselves because of their preexisting beliefs- since we create our individual realities- so we also create our own limitations. Obviously if a person believes that modern medicine is superior to alternative techniques, then his Reiki abilities will be limited accordingly.
My Reiki teacher CURED herself of both Crones AND Lupus using Reiki!! The "modern" medical doctors were astounded and called it a 'miracle'. The key to her healing, however, was in knowing the reality that Reiki is NOT a cure in itself- it can only help alleviate symptoms. The majority of our health problems are caused by emotional, mental or spiritual "baggage" that has been buried inside of us which later manifests itself as a physical ailment. The ONLY way to 'cure' these problems is to face the things you've been avoiding... once you face those demons and release them, THEN the real healing begins. That is what my Reiki teacher had to do, she had to face several things she had kept buried, but once she finally faced them, the Reiki energy was able to permanently cleanse, balance and open the Chakras which then facilitated the 'healing'.
I have learned many things since being attuned to Reiki, and one of those things is to do your OWN research and follow your own intuition! Don't believe someone just because they claim to be a 'teacher'- but invest the time into reading other books and websites, and trust your intuition about what feels right and what doesn't. Clearly, this book did not resonate with me; I have learned from personal experience that what he said about Reiki is NOT true. Modern medicine in many ways can do more harm than good- I ended up with an intestinal infection thanks to "modern medicine"- however, since being attuned to Reiki in 2006, I haven't had to see a doctor. Again I go back to the fact that illnesses are either "unresolved issues" or possibly a "life lesson" we are meant to experience and learn from in this current incarnation. Life lessons are harder to deal with because they only go away once we learn it- and sometimes this could mean suffering an illness your entire life. Of course, for someone to grasp the 'life lesson' concept, you'd also have to understand about reincarnation and the way our souls learn, grow and evolve through experiences during each lifetime.
With all that being said, I would not advocate relying solely on Reiki for major health issues because it is not a 'cure'- but it can help alleviate symptoms and may even help make you more aware of what the underlying 'issue' that caused the physical ailment could be. I would also recommend the book, "Heal Your Body" by Louise Hay which helps explain what certain physical ailments are reflective of in regards to buried mental or emotional issues.
