This review is from: Hermie: A Common Caterpillar (A Just Like Jesus Story) (Board book)
From the moment my son heard this book read to him, he was hooked. He liked the book so much that we bought the video as well. Now he walks around telling us that God isn't finished with him yet. This is a great book for any family trying to get across that God loves everyone just they way they are and he's always working in our lives. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!!

This book is a great way to get a very important message to your children..without boring them. God's not finished with us yet! He began a good work in us and He will finish it!I love this book, it even spoke to me, and My 5 yr old loved it so much we went out and bought the DVD. Lucado is so articulate in his "adult" books but he does the same with his children books, they are all wonderful and have a timeless message for our future generation, and for us as well! Now hurry up and add it to your cart! Trust me, the price can't be beat for such a great story.

Cute Children's Book About God's Purpose,
By
This review is from: Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (Hardcover)
"Hermie, a Common Caterpilllar" by, Max Lucado is about two caterpillar friends, Hermie and Wormie, who embark on an adventure and see many different types of insects that God made. It makes them wonder why God made them the way that they are and why he made them so common. They want to know why they don't have a house like a snail, strength of an ant, wings like a butterfly, different colors like other caterpillars, or spots like a ladybug. Every time they start to doubt God's response to them is always that he loves them very much and that he is not finished with them yet. As Hermie begins to get very tired he is wrapped into a cocoon and emerges as a very unique and beautiful butterfly. He now finally sees God's purpose for him and finds his friend, Wormie, to explain that God is not finished with him yet. This is a cute book about how God has a purpose for each and every person even though we sometimes can't see it at the time. It addresses our human concern of feeling ordinary and not special. Preschool and elementary aged students will find this book to be fun, entertaining, and educational of God's purpose for their lives. This book has wonderful colorful pictures and a good message. I would recommend this to any child that is having a difficulty with feeling ordinary or any other young child. I received a free e-book copy of this book for an honest review through the publishers at BookSneeze.com.

Hermie's Back! Hermie a Common Caterpillar,
By Lisa (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (Hardcover)
This is the third Max Lucado review I've done. The first was One Hand, Two Hands and the second was Hermie and Friends - A Bug Collection DVD set. We really enjoyed both of them and Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) was no exception. I really appreciate the lessons that Max Lucado's books teach children.Hermie a Common Caterpillar is an adorable book, illustrated by Daniel Howarth. The pictures are vividly colored and captivating. In fact my daughter found the pictures almost as entertaining as the story. The story is about a very plain caterpillar, Hermie, who can't understand why he is so ordinary when there are so many beautiful bugs in the world. Hermie is in for a surprise when he finds out that God has been saving something very special for him. My daughter was on the edge of her seat waiting to find out what that surprise was. I'm sure as an adult you can guess that Hermie turns into a magnificent butterfly proving that, just like everyone else, he is special in his own way. This book is actually a Level Two Reader so it's aimed at ages 5-8 but the story could be appreciated as young as age three. Great story for kids AND adults,
This review is from: Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (Hardcover)
I was not disappointed. The book is about Hermie, a caterpillar and his friend Wormie who seem ugly and inadequate when compared to their other worm friends and to animals like the butterfly, ants, snails, and ladybugs. Each time the worms are discouraged, they pray to God, and God responds "Don't worry. I love you both. And I'm not finished with you yet." The book concludes with Hermie taking a very long nap in his cocoon and emerging as a beautiful butterfly, and Hermie encouraging his friend that God is not finished with him as Wormie falls asleep in his own cocoon.
Even as an adult, I thought the book was an excellent reminder that the circumstances that we are currently experiencing are not all there is to life. God is using those circumstances to mold me and shape me. It was also a good reminder that having godly friends can help you through the hard times to focus on God and His truths. I am currently going through another study called the Truth Project, and he compares his spiritual breakthroughs to going into the cocoon. It was a perfect reminder that we will not stay in the cocoon forever. God is not finished with me yet! Me- Common? No Way!,

Hermie - A Common Caterpillar
By Max Lucado My kids love Hermie books, DVDs, movies, and so do I. He has such practical life lessons for our kiddos to learn from. Max Lucado has a great way of using common insects in a very uncommon way. Hermie teaches our kids that God has created us anything but common. We are special to Him and He is not finished with us yet. As you read through this book Hermie encounters numerous insects he would like to be like, and asks God over and over why he is such a common caterpillar. But God continues to remind him that He has big plans for his life, and isn't finished with him. In the end, he finds out what God created him to be. What a great way to illustrate to our children how God created them each differently for His own special purpose, and He isn't finished with them yet. This book seems to be written in an easy to read style for younger readers. My children are still too young to read on this level, but it did not look difficult. The colors are very bright, bold and attractive as is the artwork on the pages. It's very beautifully illustrated. I received this e-book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers 'in exchange for my honest review.

How can you not love Hermie?,

This review is from: Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (Hardcover)
How can anyone not love Hermie and Friends? My kids enjoyed watching Hermie movies growing up and I enjoyed watching, right along with them too. Very loveable stories that are always reminding kids of just how unique we all are. God made each one of us different and each one of us special. The Little Hermie "Read 2 Me" books are ideal for ages 1-5 and are the perfect size for little hands to hold. All of the books have sweet pictures that will keep kids flipping pages to read more. So glad that another wave of kids will get to know Hermie, his friends, and all the wonderful values in these stories. Thomas Nelson sent me the above books for review purposes. It will allow me to keep the books. I have no other connection to and have received no other compensation from Thomas Nelson.

Don't feel common - wait for your turn to be special!,
This review is from: Hermie, a Common Caterpillar (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (Hardcover)
I love the books that help our children know that they're not alone. They're not alone when they feel 'less' than everyone else. They are not alone when they talk to God. And, they are not alone when they feel sad. This is one of those books that will help them to grow and understand. Not only are the words appropriate for a first or second grade reader but the emotions are reflective of them, as well. Grab this for that self-conscience kid on your Christmas list that needs to feel like they are not common |
