I actually purchased this book as a gift for a friend who had rescued a hermit crab from a yard sale. She did her best, but it didn't seem like things were going well. Thanks to this book, she's been able to bring her crab back from his boring, sitting in the tank lifestyle to becoming an active, entertaining and engaging pet. Plus, the crab has experienced an improved quality of life too. If you've got crabs, buy this book.

Detailed enough to satisfy my curiosity, yet covers the basics (thoroughly!) in an easy-to-understand manner that has my 8 year old excitedly flipping through the pages and reading whole paragraphs aloud to me. We browsed a lot of websites and bookstores prior to ordering Hermit Crabs: Complete Pet Owner's Manual and nothing comes close to this one slim volume of info. Well-written and logically organized; beautiful photographs.

This book is beyond a doubt the most comprehensive, concise land hermit crab book on the market. I have seen many crab books in my life, but this is definitely the best. The sections about hermit crab anatomy and behavior are fascinating. It describes in detail crab mating and breeding, behavior in the wild, what the crabs like to eat (and what they avoid) and also discusses how they relate to other crabs. The section about aggression is a MUST-READ for new crab owners who have no idea what goes on in their crabitat at night while they're sleeping. A wonderful, intriguing book for ALL AGES of crab lovers, especially 'crabbers' who don't have regular access to the net and need a reliable source of information.

This book is filled with excellent pictures and information for those interested in Gods little creatures, the Hermit Crab. The book is written so that people can read and understand crab care without having to go to a dictionary to look up every other word. It is concise and well organized. One of the best books on Hermit Crabs I have come across in some time. This book fills a void of several years, with the lack of good current information about the Land Hermit Crab. Her inclusion of the popular Compressus species (aka 'Ecuadorian') was most welcomed! I highly recommend this fine publication to anyone interested in Hermit Crabs.

This is definitely the top book I would recommend for any hermit crab owner. It presents the most up-to-date information, both on pet care and on land hermit crab behavior in the wild. It makes a pleasant read, well written and with wonderful photographs. Another good feature is a list of references and companies specializing in hermit crabs.

It's filled with all of the basics you need to properly care for your new pet, plus little bonuses about their history and hermies in the wild!

This book has everything that the novice hermit crab owner needs to know to take care of and enjoy their hermit crabs! Information on food, water, environment and behavior can be found easily. This book really helped us learn about our new pets!

I bought this book and WOW, it totally helped me take care of my hermit crab Sidney. It tells you all that you need to know to let your hermit crab live safely and happily ever after!

With there not being out the in pet stores on how to care for your hermies, this book is very helpful for the novice owner or even for a brush up for someone more experienced. I like to try and read as much as I can. It explains the background of the species as well as how to care for them properly. Thru that, it shows that they are NOT just a disposable pet to live in a little plastic container w/ a 1/4 inch of sand :-( hopefully someday that philosophy will change. They are so interesting and can live a very long time if taken care of properly. It is only a lot of work if you do not have the time.
