Since their inception in 1981, Metallica have gone from an underground heavy-metal band to one of the most successful acts in the world, with an intensely loyal if not rabid fanbase. Their relevance is undeniable as evidenced by their ability to sell out stadiums and arenas worldwide while continuing to sell millions of albums with each release -- a feat no other band in history has sustained… Read more in Amazon's Metallica Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Senor Diablo's Review, October 1, 2000

Like any other Metallica CD this one is great! I like "Kill/Ride Medley" a lot because it combines six great songs into one. And it is live, and, of course, Metallica is the best band when it comes to live music. I do not recommend it so much for "Hero of the Day", since you could get that one on "Load". But if you collect singles, like I do, then you should get this single even if you do have "Load"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best single ever, November 18, 2001
This review is from: Hero of the Day (Audio CD)
The reason to buy this single is Track 2, the "Kill/Ride Medley". It's a truly great live performance from Donington '95. The medley begins with parts of Ride The Lightning, then goes through No Remorse, Hit The Lights, The Four Horsemen, Phantom Lord, and Fight Fire With Fire in that order. And then it ends with Ride The Lightning again. It's great.

This is slightly different than the Kill/Ride Medley that appears on the "Cunning Stunts" DVD. In that version, Seek And Destroy is played instead of Phantom Lord.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like hearing James sing old songs with versetility, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hero of the Day (Audio CD)
Although "Hero of the Day" to me was overplayed, Its nice to have when the lights are on Reload and Garage Inc. Also Metallica knows how to play live, and it shows on the Kill/Ride track. Starting from, Ride the Lightning (song) and ending with it, the song is packed full of heavy playing and loud singing. Defenitly worth the money
