4.0 out of 5 stars Senor Diablo's Review
Like any other Metallica CD this one is great! I like "Kill/Ride Medley" a lot because it combines six great songs into one. And it is live, and, of course, Metallica is the best band when it comes to live music. I do not recommend it so much for "Hero of the Day", since you could get that one on "Load". But if you collect singles, like I do,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Whatever happened to Metallica?
They went pop is what happened! The more they played for the radio and not for their longtime fans, the more of the original Metallica was lost. They used to be a great band, this is not one of their best ep's by any stretch of the imagination. If you liked the first 4 albums, don't bother with this. If you like their recent stuff have at it. They've slowed down in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best single ever, November 18, 2001
This review is from: Hero of the Day (Audio CD)
The reason to buy this single is Track 2, the "Kill/Ride Medley". It's a truly great live performance from Donington '95. The medley begins with parts of Ride The Lightning, then goes through No Remorse, Hit The Lights, The Four Horsemen, Phantom Lord, and Fight Fire With Fire in that order. And then it ends with Ride The Lightning again. It's great.

This is slightly different than the Kill/Ride Medley that appears on the "Cunning Stunts" DVD. In that version, Seek And Destroy is played instead of Phantom Lord.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like hearing James sing old songs with versetility, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hero of the Day (Audio CD)
Although "Hero of the Day" to me was overplayed, Its nice to have when the lights are on Reload and Garage Inc. Also Metallica knows how to play live, and it shows on the Kill/Ride track. Starting from, Ride the Lightning (song) and ending with it, the song is packed full of heavy playing and loud singing. Defenitly worth the money

"hero of the day" is "hero of the day": a great song but not the greatest and it's one you all know. the reason this is so incredible is because of the Kill/Ride Medley. not only is it filled with amazing songs but the continuity and fluidity with which they are played is beautiful. anyone who enjoys live metallica and the first two albums must have this single.

4.0 out of 5 stars why this is not the best single you will ever buy!, November 20, 2000
By
This review is from: Hero Of The Day (Audio CD)
This is, as is usual for metallica, an excellent release. Hero of the day ,though not the best song on Load, is an excellent example of the more mellow, thoughtful and feeling metallica we have come to know since the release of the Nothing Else Matters single from the black album. Its tormenting, soulful riffs and vocals are excellent. The single is well polished off with two alternate versions of the title track and three other songs including Motorheads brilliant Too Late, Too Late. This single is above metals usual standards but just below the high standards of a metallica single. It will not be the best CD you will ever buy ,but it would make an interesting addition to anybodies collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have, July 8, 2000

This single has only two tracks, but its 15 minutes of great music. The highlight of the CD is the amazing Kill/Ride Medley. Recorded in England in 1995, it features songs from the first two albums. This single proves Metallica's extreme diversity between slower and heavier tunes. A definite must-have in any music collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD Rocks., June 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Hero of the Day (Audio CD)
This CD is for anyone that likes Metallica. "Hero of the Day" Is in my opinion one of the best songs I have ever heard. The guitar riffs are incredible and the lyrics speak for themselves. This is the awesome single any hard rock fan would fall in love with the first time they pop it in their player. On a scale of 1-10 this single is a 20.
