5.0 out of 5 stars THE ULTIMATE "HERO"
Lavish production and superb writing are displayed on this new project, unlike anything I've heard from Kirk in the past, and he has a pretty impressive discography. Most of the 20 tracks on this cd feature a full orchestra, I'm talking cellos, violins, harps, horns etc. The first track, "Looking For You" is something both the youth and adults can enjoy with the "Haven't...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ULTIMATE "HERO", October 9, 2005
This review is from: Hero (Audio CD)
Lavish production and superb writing are displayed on this new project, unlike anything I've heard from Kirk in the past, and he has a pretty impressive discography. Most of the 20 tracks on this cd feature a full orchestra, I'm talking cellos, violins, harps, horns etc. The first track, "Looking For You" is something both the youth and adults can enjoy with the "Haven't you heard" sample from Patrice Rushen is both old-school and fresh. The title track "Hero" is a beautiful ballad, inspirational vocals and a appearance by Dorinda-Clarke-Cole really set the tone. There are some movers and shakers, "let it go" is moving featuring the "tears for fears" sample "Shout", and the shaker is the highly energized "Could've been me" with Tye Tribett & J Moss, it makes you wanna clap & stomp! Other stand-outs include "Better" produced by Andre Harris and Vidal Davis, "Without You" the melodic "Keep Your Head" the extraordinary "WHY" with Stevie Wonder which I keep on repeat and the incredible "Sunshine" which sounds like it features Alvin & the chipmunks on the chorus. This is certainly one of Kirk's best production's thus far, I haven't stopped playing this uplifting cd since I purchased it. One interlude even features the sinner's prayer and although we live in a world of wars and devastation, Jesus is the ultimate "Hero" Kirk is just the messenger, and what a gifted messenger he is.

Even if you don't illegaly share music, don't you feel entitled to your privacy? If Hackers use this rootkit to hack computers (Only a matter of time), who will be responsible for your busted computer? Sony? Kirk? You for buying the CD?

4.0 out of 5 stars Hero, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Hero (Audio CD)
This was a very nice CD and had a different sound to it than Kirk's other work. These songs were very unique and Kirk is a very gifted man. The best songs were:
Looking For You -uptempo track, something you can dance to
Hero -lyrics were awesome
Imagine Me -one of my favorite songs, very beautiful, touches your spirit
Could've Been
Better -the beat is off the chain, I like the band in the background
Without You -its ok in the beginning(Kirk is singing), it gets better towards the middle of the song
Keep Your Head -I love the beat in the beginning, Kirk did a good job remaking it
Why
First Love -another favorite, melody is so beautiful, song is very encouraging
Sunshine -i like the beat, definately could have done without that interlude with the kid
I really believe this is one of Kirk Franklin's best albums. He has produced really good albums in the past but this one really stood out. The songs were just amazing and very unique. There was only one song I really didn't care for, "Afterwhile" featuring Yolanda Adams. This one was just too slow and boring. "The Appeal" is another slow song. It was okay and had all the group members singing a certain part. "Brokenhearted" was another slow song featuring M. Winans. It encouraged one to turn their life over to Christ. Overall this album was off the hook. The songs was just so nice to listen to. The CD had variety such as hip hop, traditional gospel and even a little rock. So I do recommend this album. It is different and Kirk did an excellent job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good as always...keep it up Kirk!, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Hero (Audio CD)
Kirk Franklin is always a must buy for me, and he's never let me down. Up there with one of the best out there, this cd release of his is no exception. If you like Kirk Franklin, or Gospel music, pick this up. He's got some nice collabos on there. I really liked "Let It Go", with Sonny from P.O.D., as they took the old Tears for Fears song "Shout" and made it a relavent song for anyone dealing with addictions today. Shout! Let it all out!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, October 22, 2005

Oh my goodness! I knew that I'd purchase the "Hero" cd, but I read the Amazon reviews, anyway, prior to my purchase-- I hoped that the reviewers were right. They didn't lead me astray. This cd is an incredible blessing-- the best part is... it keeps on giving. The first day, all the songs were good by day 2 "my song" was "Imagine Me"...(yes, I cried...several times) but now, "First Love" is working on me. Okay, enough of my business. Kirk Franklin's "Hero" is a worthwhile investment, it will richly bless you. Go get it! :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars I found the Hero!, October 4, 2005

I am going out on a limb here and saying "This has got to be one of the best gospel cds I have ever heard". Its really hard to even put it into words how this cd can speak to the hearts of many and allow them to examine themselves and where they stand with their spiritual lives. All the struggles and insecurities that people harbor in their lives is examined, and in that we find out more then we ever heard before of Kirk's past addictions and let downs that many of us can relate to. I have never heard such words so well articulated on music. If you can listen to this cd and not feel a thing, you have no pulse....point blank. Even the uptempo tracks speak to your soul and drive you into a spirit of praise. My favorite songs would have to be "let it go", and "imagine me", two songs that clearly express the internal struggles that many people face, but too few are willing to address. As stated at bet.com "Sure to be an anthem of empowerment to anyone who has struggled to overcome insecurity, low self-esteem or a rocky past, "Imagine Me" encourages the listener to see themselves through the eyes of God and imagine being totally free from the things that have kept them bound", I couldn't have said it any better myself.

For anyone who is struggling with their past and where God has brought them from, or wresteling within themselves to find their meaning and purpose in life...please don't hesitate to buy this album and allow the words in the songs the ability to minister to your hearts. This is a classic Kirk Franklin cd right here, and out of all of his cds, this is definitely my favorite. If you are a Kirk fan you will love this album, This is a cd we will all need in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing Ministry, March 20, 2006

What an awesome CD!! I bought this for my son (14) who lives in GA with his dad and he was truly excited about the music and the lyrics. It was very exciting to hear the Legendary Stevie Wonder minister with Kirk Franklin. God bless Kirk Franklin's group.
