5.0 out of 5 stars It's like Mission Impossible for Hindi films
I bought this movie for my father after he loved Jaal: the Trap, that I brought home from India with me. Sunny Deol is better in this film than Jaal, and I loved that movie. The acting is actually quite good, despite most common American misconceptions of Hindi films.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best Bollywood film out there
I was a bit disappointed with this Bollywood film. I am a huge fan of Bollywood, and was underwhelmed with this movie. It was fine to watch, but not a film I'd want in my permanent Bollywood collection. If you're interested in purchasing a great Bollywood film, I'd recommend Veer Zaara, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Lagaan, Dil Bole Hadippa, Vivah, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, etc...

If you've never seen a Hindi film before, this is the best place to start. You get the full effect of singing, dancing, cultural attitudes in India between Hindus and Muslims, and of course a phenominal plot line. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the hats the RCMP (mounties) wore--they were really not genuine and stupid looking. But that's a perifrial note. This movie rocks!
This movie is also available at www.nehaflix.com, as well as a multitude of other bollywood films at resonable rates--check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spies are people - Disc problem, August 24, 2011

This review is from: The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy (DVD)
Surprisingly enjoyable movie (considering the serious main topic of espionage to avert major loss of human life by zealots, and battles/violence in several spots), even though it is often over-the-top which is common for this type of spy/action movie.

The 2 main characters have good/interesting chemistry (hard to go wrong when Preity Zinta is involved).

Because it successfully intertwines the Human side of relationship development with SPY action story lines, this movie is kind of like the movies "Fanaa" & "Kurbaan".

NOTE: After viewing 2 separate DVD "discs" of this movie (same distributor: `Venus'), there is a consistent flaw in the disc's video file data. Around 3/4 into the movie (at time marker 2:26:20), the disc typically hangs (gets stuck/dies, might eventually jump over problem area and skip a minute of video) around the end of a 2nd marriage dance scene. This occurs in standard DVD players, Blu-ray players, and computer desktop DVD disc players.

The aspect ratio is true widescreen for 16:9 TVs. The picture quality is usually good for a Bollywood movie from the 2003 time frame (the "beginning credits", which don't start until about 19 minutes into the movie, have poor video quality of an outdoor mountain area).

A few nice songs & dance, but the story/acting is the best part of the movie. Good over-all cast.
