I got one of the first of these things available in the US. Actually bought two for a comedy video I'm shooting.

They were fun to fly, especially for a novice like me. The things took a lot of abuse/hard use and stood up without breaking -- even straight falls from five stories high.

It did, succumb to being smacked out of mid-air with a broom (for the video), but only the cage broke at three points. After some glueing the roll cage is holding up fairly well and it still flies. So, I would avoid hitting it with a broom!

One warning, the wires from the wires from the battery broke at the connectors broke from the use of plugging and unplugging from the copter and charger (can't be avoided). Be careful when you switch them. Make sure to pull them apart by the connector and not the wires. I did, but the wires still pulled out. I was able to solder them, with some difficulty, but they won't last to long due to the plug design.

I bought this for myself and didn't think it would last because I've had over ten planes and copters. I broke them all in days bcuz I'm a bad flyer. BUT THIS THING IS AWESOME AND HAS TAKEN REALLY HARD HITS.the second one battery is also really .the only downside is that it is difficult to adjust the trim correctly

Ok, this is the 2nd one of these I bought. Sent the first one back because one prop would never stop spinning. This one the headlights stopped working in the first 3 minutes of flight. And no, it was not because of a crash. But speaking of crashing, this unit is nowhere near as stable as the Hubsan X4. Now, you put THAT one in a protective cage like this and you would really have something. Here, all you have is a cage that protects the flying unit, but the flying unit is not very good to begin with.

Charging clip / battery connection is a little difficult.
That is it, so far.
This is my first quad, and I love it!
I strongly suggest this as a first quad or first regular copter to own. Being new, I wrecked several times in my house for the first couple of flights. I threw the stick in large increments until I got it down (and was also able to recover from discombobulating myself when the quad turned back toward me).
Just turn the ceiling fans off and this thing is pretty resilient. It flys a long five minutes (too fun to pay attention to time). The extra battery is a huge plus.

You would have to hit something really hard to break this quadcopter. It's a lot of fun and great for beginners and the price is right including the two batteries that come with it. That's a good idea because it only has about 6-8 minute flying time on a charge.

Here's a hint to keep you from pulling the battery wires loose from the connector:

On the female side, use a fingernail file and file down the little projections on the clip that holds them together. Don't file too much or it may come apart in flight. Just enough to make it easier to unplug it without pliers.

Also: The trim is very sensitive and hard to get set. It will go off in one direction quickly if you don't get it right. Just do one click at a time and then fly for a few seconds because if you give it multiple clicks at once it will quickly veer off in the other direction.

Have fun!

The Hero RC is somewhat dowdy, with slow, gentle responses to control inputs, which is what you want when you're learning. The copter is pretty stable, and the cage is a welcome confidence-building feature as you crash your way to competence. The battery jack is not well designed, as it requires either a small pry bar or screwdriver to remove. This puts you at hazard of shorting the leads. The alternative is yanking on the wires, which is not a good plan. I hope this will loosen up a little with time.

My 9-year-old daughter loves hers.

Although the Sky Matrix Quadcopter is intended to be a toy, it is a great learning tool for practicing RC techniques. Much better than using a simulator, in fact. The transmitter controller is like it's bigger brothers, so if you can fly and maneuver this little quad, you can easily manage the larger RC quads. Even better, you can safely fly this little guy indoors and it is quite crash resistant!

Updated review....Great product. This is my third of these quads. Returned the first two because each had a prop that would spin uncontrollably. The third works great. My friend also has one that has performed flawlessly for over a month of regular use. This product is pretty amazing and unique...seems to defy common sense on how tough it is. It is comically robust and is quick when on speed mode. Even an experienced flyer will appreciate the character of this quad, and it is the PERFECT learning quad. A blast to fly them together with a friend. Very funny. This quad finds itself in the weirdest places... hanging from light fixtures, behind the TV, in the fireplace, or barreling down a hall into another room. Literally bounces of walls and the floor like a basketball. Must buy to believe this perfect design. Hope to see bigger and more powerful versions in the future!
