Book Description

June 2, 2007
This is a pre-1923 historical reproduction that was curated for quality. Quality assurance was conducted on each of these books in an attempt to remove books with imperfections introduced by the digitization process. Though we have made best efforts - the books may have occasional errors that do not impede the reading experience. We believe this work is culturally important and have elected to bring the book back into print as part of our continuing commitment to the preservation of printed works worldwide. This text refers to the Bibliobazaar edition.

About the Author

Jacob A. Riis was a photographer, reporter and social reformer. His famous book, How the Other Half Lives, described slum conditions in New York City at the end of the 19th century, and earned him the friendship of Theodore Roosevelt, who said, "... my whole life was influenced by my long association with Jacob Riis, whom I am tempted to call the best American I ever knew, although he was already a young man when he came hither from Denmark." --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
