Heroes Among Us describes the lives of lesser-known heroes who found the courage to stand up and give their all for what they believed to be right. Some stood on battle fields, some in court rooms, some in mission fields. All made a difference in the world that we know today. Written by Congressman Jim Ryun, former Olympic runner, devout Christian and hero in his own right, Heroes Among Us will inspire and motivate readers to find the hero within themselves.

Very inspiring. It is hard to stop and put it down. It was one of the fastest readings I have done in years because I did not want to stop. It is very neatly chaptered, so if you need to read and stop you usually can just read one story, and then come back later to start the next one.

I bought three of these as gifts for important men and young men in my life. The standards set by these great Americans are a model to anyone... male or female.

This book not only opens your eyes to who has gone before us in standing on their beliefs but shows you brief periods of history and what the tone and mood of the new founded America was all about. Who would sacrifice their home, wife, children and ultimately their life for a belief in a new rough around the edges country? Well, read and see and keep the book for your future generations who need a shot in the arm regarding core values and the price that has been paid for our them. Yes, to this book to renourish tarnished values in America.

I bought this for my picky book club and we are loving it!!! The stories are short enough to be read aloud in a group. The stories are very inspiring and thought provoking. We have really enjoyed reading this book!

Often blinded by the lights, bells and whistles of what appears to offer the best and brightest among us and often leaves the basics of character, judgement and morality the sad consequence of being left behind in the race for popularity, power and wealth. Seldom is loyalty among those qualities.

Like a Christmas tree usurping the real meaning that Christmas was meant to observe, commercialization is often the outcome praised and enviable that ignores the lasting quality of more altruistic ideals or grandeur of simplicity that formed the anchor for such celebrations.

The ability to keep foresight and hindsight allows the abilities of real heroes to maintain their luster despite the lures of momentary treasures and excitement of temporary thrills.
