5.0 out of 5 stars Even satisfying for die-hard Heroes junkies (like me)
I've played every Heroes of Might&Magic mission ever released, and I've got to say that this is the best of the Chronicles series. Despite the fact that a vast majority of this one takes place underground, the overall mission design in this particular chapter is far more well-planned and challenging than many of the others. This review is from: Heroes Chronicles: Conquest of the Underworld (CD-ROM)
I've played every Heroes of Might&Magic mission ever released, and I've got to say that this is the best of the Chronicles series. Despite the fact that a vast majority of this one takes place underground, the overall mission design in this particular chapter is far more well-planned and challenging than many of the others. For example, one mid-game mission is a huge, open-map slug-fest that defies the usual "uber-heroes & convoy heroes" tactic completely... 8 heroes versus all the enemies won't seem like enough to cover the map! (And they finally give you town portal relatively early, on the same map.)

While the prose in all of the Chronicles is the best of any M&M-branded game or series, this fills in some especially entertaining gaps in Tarnum's story. (Dragons easily had the best prose, though.) If you're new to HoMM in general, buy the H3-Complete boxed set, then move on to Chronicles-Warriors, then this, and so on. If you're an old-time Heroes fan, this one's sure to satisfy (especially given the price)!

I have liked every other game put out by Heroes of Might and Magic. So I can't wait to get this one. If it is as good as the last one it will be a major game.
