Some of the best trance I've heard in a while, June 7, 2006
This review is from: Heroes of the Imagination (Audio CD)
While I love a bit of trance, I've found that there are very few guys making really exceptional stuff. 1200 Micrograms are definitely some of those guys. This album and the self titled debut (unfortunately not available here) are two of the best trance albums I've heard in a while. Driving and melodic yet also psychidelic, this stuff embodies everything that's good about psy-trance (by far the best, and some would argue the only good, sub-genre of trance). What separates this music from a lot of other trance is the use of sound and the sophistication of it all without letting itself get stuck up it's own arse. The sonic manipulation here is very well done and very effective and structurally the tracks never drag themselves out or become too predictable.
Some of the sounds here are unlikely too. Guitars are sampled and the keyboard effects are often far from the cliches of trance. A good example of this is on Acid For Nothing, a cover of Dire Straight's Money For Nothing.
As a sidenote, one the members, Raja Ram, worked with Hallucinogen's Simon Posford on the psy-chill band Shpongle while the other two members are in fellow psy-trance act Growling Mad Scientists, who I now intend to get some stuff by if it's even half as good as this. Really great trance, if you like psy-trance you need to hear this.

acid for nothing, May 9, 2011
is a great song. and this music makes me feel like i'm dosed... almost, lol. with samples from a classic song, it just really lights up. i'd compare it to gms, infected mushroom, alien project. all very good psytrance.
