The Best Yet,
By Bob (MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heroes (Audio CD)
This is is great! Espically if you like bluegrassy-ish country music. Stand outs are "Friend Til the End" (upbeat and i listen to it over and over), "Heroes"(honestly, a little corney, but I still love it), "If That Don't Make You Wanna Go"(i heard it the first time live on a Gaither CD and this, in my opinion, is better), and "Peace" (its so touching...sniff...Really though, its very good. I LOVE IT!). I also like "Peace Like a River" yeah i know two songs with "peace" in the title. But "Half a Day Away" and "Yours and Mine" are TOO sappy for me. I skip them everytime. Bottom line: if you like the Isaacs - Get it. If you like modern-y/bluegrass-y country(kind of a contradiction yeah?) - Get it. If you are on the fence - Get it! :)

I Think You'll Like It,
This review is from: Heroes (Audio CD)
Heroes, by the Isaacs, is an overall good project. The 'First Family of Bluegrass Gospel' definitely found their niche with the progressive songs "Friend 'Til The End" and "Heroes", as well as more mainstream songs like "Peace". I personally think that "Peace" could be a hit on country radio, because it's kind of Allison Krauss and Union Stationesque. But don't worry, die hard 'old school' Southern Gospel and bluegrass fans-- songs like "If That Don't Make You Want To Go" and "Great Is Thy Reward" will surely be pleasing to your ears. Though I feel there is a little bit of a slump at the end of the album besides "Peace", very good project. A must have for the Christian music and/or bluegrass fan.

Ok many people are not hardcore classic country gospel fans.
They like some Eagles and like some bluegrass and like some clean country. But the traditional gospel sounds like a tent show to them or some hard core moralist hectoring them to be saved. Ok, fine for the devotee, but not so good for the average joe who isn't. Well this is the CD for the average person with leanings towards faith, and wanting music with a good conscious and heart behind it. The Issacs are a family act, an adult one, and real pros. They have gorgeous harmonies, on songs that tell stories, give you a nice Aesopian moral to the story and don't shove it down your throat. It is also as much about the music as message. Great players working well together. If you knew NO ENGLISH, you would like their music. The instrumentation leans towards acoustic country / bluegrass, but not heavy on banjo rolls and songs of 'the lords might sword' etc. It is modern and yet classic musically and the arrangements are very clean and tight. Lovely production on all levels. I have played this for my mother-in-law who speaks not a word of English, she enjoyed it. My wife loves it and plays it regularly mornings. She sings along. My 19 year old god-daughter, a budding song writer, fell in love with it on 1st time listening. I play music on 6 instruments in dozens of styles from bluegrass to salsa and bebop jazz. I really enjoy this album every time it's played. I have yet to burn out on it, and don't really expect to. If you wanted to try out todays gospel music this would be a fine choice.

I wish I were an Isaacs!,

The Heroes Album is great. I am not a review writer but I have this album and went to buy another Isaacs album and was offended by that other woman's hostile review I had to counter it. When she says Sonja can't sing I don't know what she is talking about- hello?? Sonja was just nominated and WON Female Vocalist of the Year 2007 for the Inspirational Country Singers. So, I want to say that I love love love the Isaacs family- all of them. They are all talented and a blessing to this fellow servant of the Lord. I can't get enough of them, I wish I were an Isaacs! They have beautiful harmony in their voice and in their ministry and in their hearts. I have seen them off the stage and they are real and lovely. So, yeah this album is great. Love the Heroes, If That Don't Make You Want To Go and Sweet Holy Spirit those are my favorite tracks, but really I love them all. Anyway, thanks Isaacs! :)

I had heard a few of these songs on Gaither videos. They are just as good here on their own CD. Buy it and enjoy their delicate harmonies.

The True Heroes in Life,
By C.T. STRICKLAND, JR (PLEASANT GARDEN, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heroes (Audio CD)
This album when listened to with a good sound system, along with few distractions will stimulate your mind to think on the greatest "Heroes" in this life. It has been said, "Too often we salute the wrong heroes", (meaning ones that are famous or rich or powerful), when some of the greatest heroes work quietly behind the scenes. Such is the theme track of this album, which stresses well-deserved praise for those who sacrifice their time, talents, and energies to help those that are less fortunate. Other songs of this album, remind us of the love and nuturing of parents, or maybe with sadness those who try everything in this world to find peace, but fail to see the true peace one can have through a meaningful relationship with Christ.
The climax of love, friends, heroes and lasting peace of course is accomplished when listening to the album uninterrupted, in it's entirety. For it is then that the listener can discover the Source of all true peace, the Friend who sticketh closer than a brother, and most important, the Greatest Heroe of all, the Son of God who gave of His life to redeem mankind, and offer hope to a people who otherwise have no hope. The vocals, instrumentals, and Songwriting skills are highly evident in this production. These people perform their own live music, and I highly recommend it!! C.T. great,
This review is from: Heroes (Audio CD)
Well, I think that the new album "Heroes" is really great. I love the upbeat song "Friend Til the End" it's a "toe-tappin" song. But personally my favorite song is "Peace" ;due to the melancholy lyrics. If you like bluegrass you are "sort -of" in the right place. The drums and the piano hold it back from being bluegrass. But overall it is really good and I recomend this album to anyone who enjoys southern gospel. I also think that everyone did a really good job on pitching in their parts.

This album is okay, but I only liked a few of the songs. Ms. Isaacs has a nice voice. I first saw the Isaacs on the Bill Gaither show several years ago.
