5.0 out of 5 stars Best strategy game around.
Since Christmas, my father, brother, and I have been taking turns playing this nearly every day. The graphics are gorgeous, especially the towns, and combat options are much more diverse and varied than HOMM2. The turn based aspect means that your moves aren't rushed, and multiplayer supports hotseat play on one system. No complaints whatsoever.

3.0 out of 5 stars >>>>HEROES ta-daaaaaa.
Heroes threeeis the first heroes eye got.I liked Heroes threee. The graphics are really good. At this place called the stables it has horse heads two millimters high and they move! There is a different type of music for each type of terrain and also when you battle someone, it's not just a terrain, there are dozens of different objects there can be and it's actually...

I can see no reason why anyone should not buy this game. It is great. It is turn-based strategy at it's best. Ever since King's Bounty, games in this series have gotten better and better. This game has unlimited replayability due to it's random nature and multiplayer capabilities. In fact, you can multiplayer with just one computer and take turns if you don't want to play online. This game has gotten hours of play every day since I got it, and I don't see anyone getting bored with it anytime soon.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Heroes of Might and Magic III (CD-ROM)
We bought Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for the Mac from a 3rd party through Amazon, 'cause I read a bunch of good reviews. My 12 year old son is not ready for the net-based sim games like World of Warcraft, but he loves Heroes. He even got an 11 year old girl he's friends with hooked on the game. It's got a lot of action, and he can spend hours with it (much to my dismay!). Only problem is it only runs on OS9, so we have a G4-800 that we use, but the newer OSX machines won't run it. On that machine the speed is excellent and the graphics are quite good. We highly recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heroes 3 Of Might and Magic, May 22, 2002
This review is from: Heroes of Might and Magic III (CD-ROM)
This is the best turn based strategy game I've played so far. I simply love this game. Earlier I had read the review of the game Age of wonders on Amazon.com and downloaded its demo. To tell the truth I was not much impressed with the game, especially since it was turn based. But this game is really addictive and I thank my stars for the day I bought this game as I was in two minds whether to buy it or not, one - because it was yet another turn based strategy, two - because the game was being sold for a very very low price here in India (the pack also included the expansion - Armageddon's Blade).
Well this game is very well made. The good things about this game are plenty. I just love the campaigns and the vast number of scenarios available to play. Turn based system is pretty fast in this game and the best part about this game is the turn based combat. Auto-combat is cool but is not as great fun as manual combat. Spells available for combat are plenty and fun to cast. Chain lightning, Death Ripple, Frost Ring and Clone are a few spells that are fun to watch.
The graphics in the game are cool. The numbers of creatures available in the game are numerous, each with its own special ability and I enjoyed them very much during game play. The monsters are a wonderful work of art. My favorite creatures in the game are many. The Fire Elementals are the best. I love the way they cover distance. The Scorpicores are absolutely frightening to look at. They create a sense of terror. The Gorgons, Unicorns, Thunderbirds, Cyclops Kings and the Liches are other rare beauties. It is a real pleasure to watch them. The Zealots are really creepy to look at and the Harpies are equally weird. I love the way Efreet Sultans attack their enemies. The Master Genies, Arch Devils and Arch Angels are equally cool to watch.
The Heroes available in the game are numerous and it is fun to build up their skills. The game is so cool that u just need a map with a group of enemies and creatures scattered on random locations to have fun. I think that's a plus point. The storyline in the game just adds more fun to the whole thing. On the whole the game is really neat and I've had many fun filled hours of play thanks to Jon Van Caneghem and group.
5 Stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely addictive(in a good way)!, July 24, 2000

As a frequent computer gamer, I am always looking for the next best thing... games can be left by the wayside when they become stale.

This may be one of those next things. I played the original M&M, and the second Heroes installment, to my great enjoyment. Fortunately, this newest version does not disappoint players of those older games. In fact, when I first acquired this, it was all I could to tear myself away after several hours.

There are several strong selling points to this game: 1) The audio-visual elements are stellar. From the introductory movie, to smallest details, the visuals are excellent eye-candy. The music is very good: the limited palette of HOMM2 has been replaced with different music for each hero type and castle type. Also, the music is subtle enough to be entertaining even when turned relatively low. 2) Many game options are available. The scenario option from HOMM2 has been expanded... there are now multiple options, and successful completions allow for even more options. Multiplay is again allowed, a very popular option recently. 3) Game play is customizable. The complaint I had with HOMM2 was that even the easiest setting had a bit too much challenge - this game is much more honest in its difficulty rating. Of course, there are always those experts who want the toughest challenge, and they are not left out. Also, the game success scenarios are more varied than ever, including the new "grail" variation on the "capture the artifact" goal. 4) Lots of heroes, with different "advantages" ranging from extra resources to resistance to spells. 5) Most artifacts must be placed on the hero's body, 1 per slot, and there is only limited carrying room. No more super-heroes with 50 artifacts! There is more incentive to "share the wealth", especially for skill-specific artifacts(increasing Necromancy by 5% doesn't mean anything if you don't have that skill). 6) If I haven't covered it already, it's just plain fun.

I would recommend this game to anyone, especially if you enjoyed HOMM2.

I've never played a computer game before where every part of it is fun. Usually games are mostly fun, but have a few boring parts you have to put up with. In Heroes 3, everything you do is a delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome game, requires PowerPC Mac with Classic installed, October 14, 2010

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Heroes of Might and Magic III (CD-ROM)
This game is one of my old favorites. I still play it once in a while even though it is a decade old. The graphics aren't great by modern standards (of course), but the gameplay is quite addictive, the campaign scenarios are challenging, and the individual maps are varied and interesting.

One thing to note is that the Mac version of HoMM3 is a Classic application. To run it, you will need to have a PowerPC Mac with the classic Mac OS installed. It does work in Mac OS X's classic mode, but cannot be used on an Intel Mac because Classic isn't supported on these machines.

For those with newer Macs who want to play this game, I would recommend getting the Windows version of HoMM3 and running it using Boot Camp, Parallels, or VMWare Fusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, this game is awesome!, November 9, 2000

HOMM3 is the first game of the series that I have played. I never realized what I was missing! Every facet of this game is impressive. From the great cut-scenes to the epic battles, you will be lost in this game for MANY hours at a time. The campaign and scenerio options are fantastic, but the fun doesn't end there! Multiplayer battles are simply a blast! I haven't yet (key word, YET) tried this game online, but I have spent long afternoons playing this game with the hot-seat method with buddies. I love the thoughts that fill my mind of what my enemies might do next. A glorius victory in battle against a friend is VERY rewarding! :) I could write page after page about this game, but I REALLY need to get back to playing it! So there you have it, if you even somewhat enjoy strategy or multiplayer games...BUT THIS PRODUCT NOW!

This game is the best game i have ever played in my life. The music is good and the graphics-though not cutting edge are very pleasing. The gameplay is the best. I have fun when playing by myself, with friends on the same computer, and with people on the internet using the free program Gameranger. I only have two complaints. 1. it crashes too much, luckily there is an autosave feature. 2. no map editor for mac version. But overall i love it and you should buy it NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly spectacular, March 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Heroes of Might and Magic III (CD-ROM)
I purchased Heroes of Might & Magic 1 and 2 for the Mac, and enjoyed both of them. So naturally I rushed out to buy the 3rd installment. And I doesn't disappoint at all. The graphics, while not dramatically improved from the last game, are beautiful. The gameplay is very easy to pick up and learn. The new hero types are a vast improvement, along with all the different army types that accompany them. The heroes you control take on more personality finally. They have short descriptions, and are able to advance up levels as in RPG's. In campaign mode, you are sometimes able to carry your best heroes over from game to game. If you enjoy the Heroes of Might & Magic series, you can't go wrong picking up the 3rd one....it takes the best things from the other two and expands upon them, while adding lots of new features, army types, artifacts, and terrains.
