Television westerns...Where men were men and commercials were a given, April 10, 2008
This review is from: Heroes of the Old West (DVD)
HEROES OF THE WEST combines two MILL CREEK DVD sets into one. These are
TV WESTERNS 57 Episode Collection and
THE BEST OF BONANZA. Discs are dual-side recorded and dubbed from unrestored material, so video quality can vary. Audio seems to be uniformly good and without overfiltering.
Besides 31 episodes from seasons #1 and #2, the "Bonanza" portion includes three "Wagon Train" chapters. These are:
Alias Bill Hawks
The Dr. Denker Story
The Malachi Hobart Story
Note that the Bonanzas DO NOT have the original theme song (which remains under copyright).
As for the "TV Westerns" half of this package, contents include:
The Adventures of Champion - (1 episode)
Bat Masterson - (2 episodes)
The Cisco Kid - (12 episodes)
Death Valley Days - (3 episodes)
The Lone Ranger - (15 episodes)
The Range Rider - (6 episodes)
The Rifleman - (3 episodes)
The Roy Rogers Show - (15 episodes)
All fans of these programs are sure to enjoy
CLASSIC TV WESTERNS 300 Episodes (also from MCE). This massive roundup features samples of 36 different western series (134½ hours worth!) on 24 DVDs.

Heros of the Old West, October 28, 2011
This review is from: Heroes of the Old West (DVD)
This is an excellent collection of good old westerns. Most of them are almost forgotton "good versus bad" good old day movies. It is especially fun for the grandkids to see what fun entertainment was about when Grama was a youngster!
