5.0 out of 5 stars Great game system, August 19, 2009
This review is from: DC Heroes Role-Playing Game, 3rd Ed. (Paperback)
If you liked games like Dungeons and Dragons, where you create a character and then play that character in a made up world, you are a fan of Role Playing Games: RPGs. DC Heroes let's you play a famous superhero of your choice: Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman, even Robin or lesser known DC Comics heroes like the Atom or Plastic Man. But the best part for me is being able to choose from dozens of powers and abilities listed in the book in order to create your own hero. Want someone who knows karate and can breath fire? You can do it. The "system" itself takes a little getting used to, but then it's fun. It looks like math, but it's not. A normal person who can lift 200 lbs has a Strength of 02. A weaker person who can lift only 100 lbs has a Strength of 01. An Olympic gold medal weight lifter who can lift over 800 lbs would have a Strength of 05. Spiderman, a Marvel Comics character, is well known as being able to lift about 10 tons. That puts him at Strength 09. It goes on from there. I like this and the Marvel Super Heroes RPG, though this seems "richer" in some ways. Lots of character stats available out on the web, too!
