This review is from: Heroin:Its History & Lore (Hardcover)
Julian Durlacher does a remarkable job of putting together a concise and well-written history of the controversial drug and its effects on our culture, from bebop to heroin chic. A far cry from the moralizing tracts published in this country, this down-to-earth book emphasizes the rational approach by illustrating the tragic consequences of demonizing drugs and drug users and the benefits of a "harm-reduction" approach and its success in some European countries. A great overview of the many faces of this "dragon" among drugs, and a fascinating read! |
