I first heard of this excellent book when I saw it endorsed in the Daughters of the American Revolution magazine. They were selling it as "24 TRUE STORIES of BRAVE and DARING WOMEN from the AMERICAN REVOLUTION. These American founding mothers are towering models of courage and patriotism". They were selling 1st editions. I am a DAR member, and I was teaching the American Revolution in school, so I ordered a book (hardcover). My students, fellow teachers, and I were all "pleased as punch". The stories were well written, and the 24 color pictures had my students each picking one to draw, and write about, to display in the hall. I immediately ordered two more books - another for my classroom, and one to place in the school library. I am American History Chairman for our local DAR Chapter, and we are trying to raise money to buy one of the books to go in the library of each school,and public library, in two counties.(HINT: The books have gone up in price since 1998, but the best buy is still from Amazon.Com !)
