Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In the savvy introduction to her third collection of erotic fiction by women, Susie Bright discredits the too commonly held view that feminists can't be sexual or revel in their sensual selves. Bright's 24 lusty selections not only advance her argument by showing that intelligence and sexuality go hand in hand, but prove that erotica can fulfill any variety of appetite, from literary to fantastical, from surrealistic to voyeuristic. Susan St. Aubin's "Hope" looks at how a woman moves from an open marrige into a promising, lesbian romance. In Emily Alward's "Nicolodeon," a science fiction writer encounters one of her own creations, a man from an imagined galaxy. Other works feature magical landscapes, romantic triangles, and a fiercely honest look at a night in the life of a stripper. The few clunkers are redeemed by stories like Mary Maxwell's "Trust," whose narrator shifts the balance by telling her male lover, "I like knives," then proceeding to caress him with a suspenseful blade, and like Pat Williams's "Tennessee," in which a young girl awakens to complex enchantment in the arms of a hermaphroditic playmate. Throughout this volume, graphic sex provides a fulcrum for examinations of personal and social identity, friendship and fidelity, not to mention good old fashioned love. Like Calla Conova's narrator, whose "garden unfolds like a secret lover," readers will be seduced by Bright's array of pleasures and ideas, and will emerge satisfied that strong women are the masters of their own delights.

From Kirkus Reviews

``One of the oldest feminist challenges is to eliminate the double standard, to move from barefoot and pregnant to orgasmic and decisive.'' So writes Bright in her introduction to this wide- ranging and inclusive (gay, straight, married, adulterous, twosomes, groups) collection of women's erotica. With titles like ``Erotoplasmic Orgasmic,'' ``Two Guys and a Girl,'' and ``About Penetration,'' these stories are written--exultantly and without apology--in a spirit of exploration and frank arousal. I think those readers who are interested in erotic stories may find the selections in this audio tape a bit "technical" sounding. The terminology used fell short of my definition of eroticism. I would pass on this selection.

Wow! I'm still floating after my partner and I listened to this last weekend. There are a variety of stories and scenarios, but what they all have in common are they are explicitly sexual and really well-written. They really turned up the heat for us, and made for an incredibly enjoyable sensual and fantasy experience for us. I think this is really an amazing product - highly recommended!

Waste of money if you are not into the girl- girl thing- nearly every story has it. And the ones that don't are worse. terrible. Bad writing-

save your money. my copy is going back to be sold as "used", i guess. stories aren't bad but the narration is horrible. probably better read instead of heard. it's hard to get aroused when some man with a "not so hot" voice is telling you an erotic story and doing a poor job at it as well. in a word, ...cheesy.

whew! this was our first erotic audio experience, (we listened to Ear Candy on the way to L.A.), and we thought it was absolutely KILLER! we actually had to pull over about halfway through a story by Carol Queen, "Sweating Profusely in Merida", because i couldn't concentrate on driving! there are a variety of stories here, it being a sampler, and we enjoyed them all, especially the Carol Queen story and the one about the erotic encounter on a crowded commuter train in Tokyo. i didn't even realize there was such a thing as erotic audio cd's and tapes, but i think it's a great medium for erotica, (it's "hands-free"), and i think a sampler is a great place to start. enthusiastically recommended!
