5.0 out of 5 stars Rauncy but fun
The fifth edition of the famous or (infamous) depending on your position of erotic short stories has been released and like its predecessors, it is a fun to read collection, but not for everyone. The stories go where no woman dare go before by providing a playful and unexpected look at kinky sex but it's done within the bounds of good taste and some brilliant writing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for a one-night stand...
I am one of those "weird" people who likes a little plot and character with my erotica. Most of the stories in this collection seemed to lack real plot, and for that, I was disappointed. The stories succeeded in turning me on, but many failed to make me care. While an occasional "we met, we got turned on, we got it on" story is fun, I prefer commitment...

This review is from: Herotica 5: A New Collection of Women's Erotic Fiction (No. 5) (Paperback)
The fifth edition of the famous or (infamous) depending on your position of erotic short stories has been released and like its predecessors, it is a fun to read collection, but not for everyone. The stories go where no woman dare go before by providing a playful and unexpected look at kinky sex but it's done within the bounds of good taste and some brilliant writing. Readers who enjoy whips and chains with a thick emphasis on the S&M as opposed to the MS will need to go elsewhere as playful erotica is the name of this game. Likewise those who spell s*x like this need to look elsewhere too (hopefully not in the same place). For a good portion of the rest of us who enjoy a very hot tale ranging the gamut of sexual desires this novel is a reader's delight.

The stories succeeded in turning me on, but many failed to make me care. While an occasional "we met, we got turned on, we got it on" story is fun, I prefer commitment to my reading -- like in real life, I guess. Maybe that's why I thought Herotica 6 was better. I'd recommend 6 over 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE BOMB BOOK...................I LOVE THIS BOOK!, January 28, 1999

I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE VERY AMUSING. IT WAS ALSO SENSUAL. IT GRABBED YOUR ATTENTION WITH EVERY STORY AND KEPT IT UNTIL THE STORY ENDED. THIS BOOK IS A WOMAN'S BOOK. I HONESTLY THINK THAT IF A MAN WANTED TO GET TURNED ON THAT HE COULD PICK ANY STORY IN THIS BOOK. THE STORIES ARE VERY DETAILED. YOU FEEL AS IF YOU ARE THERE, WATCHING!

CHECK OUT THIS BOOK, IT'S GREAT FOR BEDTIME READING! I GUARANTEE YOU WON'T GO TO BED UPSET :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars You dont really get your Bang for your Buck, March 25, 2001

I have to say that I was really dissapointed in this book. I know it says there are 23 stories, so I should haev been better prepared for short stories...only some of them were only like 5 pages long, and on top of that, they were just plain stupid. I think this was a waste and I know I will not buy any moer books that have large groupings of stories in them. Hey, I like a good hot juicy sex scene as much as the next person, but i think i would prefer a little more depth of the story than what you get with this group of stories. Some of the stories in here would have you going "huh?" after you read it. What else can you say...

There are stories here for every type of fantasy. These Heroitca books are a must for every reader of ertoica. Great title too. Also check out Story of O, Delta of Venus by Nin and Lip Service by Rose.

1.0 out of 5 stars For suburban fools, by suburban fools, January 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Herotica 5: A New Collection of Women's Erotic Fiction (No. 5) (Paperback)
The newest installment in this increasingly redundant (as if it hadn't been redundant to begin with) series of "erotic" stories has about as much heat as an unplugged electric blanket. It's more propaganda in the service of sex as a perpetually Good Thing, with nary a mention of damage, pain, removal, coldness, or anything sex-related that gets less commonly propagandized because it's just no fun. People who mistake books like this for any kind of deep truths about human sexuality -- which is what the ultimate aim of this kind of medicinal-pleasure nonsense is all about, anyway -- are the butt of a joke that they probably aren't even aware of.
