Herper's Life List includes a checklist of native and introduced (breeding populations) reptiles and amphibians in the continental United States and Canada. Also included is a lifelist which allows herpers to write down and keep track of first encounters with these species and notable varieties (subspecies, variations, common morphs, etc.). Controversial though they may be, the systematics are current, with space available for some former subspecies (e.g., the eastern rat snakes).
