Leopard Gecko Review,

This review is from: The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos (Paperback)
Upon receiving my edition of the Herpetoclture of Leopard Geckos I knew I was in for a wonderful reading experience when I looked at the beatiful book cover of the gorgeous Raptor starring at me. I sat down began to read.Once I started I could not put it down. The book is a masterpiece. To me it is the Encyclopedia of Leopard Geckos. While reading the book it felt as if The book was alive, every thing was described in such detail. The remarkable close up illustrations of various Gecko colors are unbelieveable.A must for every one. Finally justice for the Leopard Geckos. All you will need to know about this wonderful animal.

The Best of the Best,

This definately has to be the single greatest book ever written on leos. Anyone who is tired of false rumors, internet "experts", and forum newbies should get this book. I've had leos for ten years, and I still haven't been able to put this down. However, I believe that any newbie could easily understand it and I 100% recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in leos, new keepers and old alike.

After waiting many month's for the book to become available,i was not dissapointed in the slightest. The book covers every aspect of keeping leopards and gives an indepth coverage of leo morphs, some of which have never been available to the public. The picture's are vibrant in colour and give food for thought to any leopard gecko breeder new or old.The book is expertly written and will no doubt become the best selling leopard gecko book of all time.it will be classed as a leopard keeper's bible.

Many books have been written on that topic, some of them not worth the paper they are printed on - this one is truly different! First hand information, clear and plain, though packed with even the most recent scientific findings, this book belongs on the shelf of everyone interested in leopard geckos, from beginner to aficionado. And the pictures are superb!
"The Leopard Gecko Bible" is born..........thank you, guys!!!

I got this for my son who wanted a different title on the same subject. He reads extensively about reptiles and I thought this might be more info on the subject than the "pet store" book he asked for. Was I right! Lots of great info and tons of pictures.

THE book leopard gecko keepers must buy,
This review is from: The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos (Paperback)
This book is very accessible for all audiences interested in leopard geckos as captive animals. It's inexpensive considering the contents and should be purchased by all leopard gecko keepers. There is far thicker coverage than top breeder websites offer. Some of the information will be helpful to persons using these animals in a lab setting for behavioral and physiological research.
The chapter on commercial breeding is brief and sparse considering all the details one must evaluate to start a business, and should be used as a very modest supplement. The chapter on natural vivaria and community enclosures seems incomplete. The final chapter, on medical issues, is nothing compared to Mader's big book or the like, but it will get you started on what to fear and how to avoid more common problems in leopard geckos. There are more grammatical errors in this book than I'd like to see considering its overall caliber. The heart of this book - on setting up for, breeding, and rearing leopard geckos - is what makes this book jump to the top of everyone's lists. The basic genetics chapters will help breeders learn to plan optimally for new projects. The coverage of color phases is already outdated, with a dominant gene - the "enigma" - having made ready appearance since the book's publication. Tremper himself has exhibited at least three new recessive color strains in leopard geckos post-publication! In this book's defense, only quick-release magazine articles stand a chance of keeping up with this rapidly-advancing facet of leopard gecko herpetoculture. If you are looking for natural history, buy "The Eyelash Geckos" (Seufer, Kaverkin & Kirshner 2005) instead - it's more elaborate and attempts to address regional variation in the species. "The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos" is, and will long be, THE book on captive leopard geckos.

I am a breeder who tries constantly to learn new things about my leopard geckos. I like to find out the best way to take care of them. I test various methods I read about or figure out and I find that this book has great methods. This book not only has excellent detailed descriptions of how to take care of your geckos but it goes further into breeding then many would. It talks extensively about the many morphs and the genetics involved in breeding them. It goes in detail about the dominant and recessive traits of the various morphs and illustrates all phenotypes. You will be able to learn how to create any existing morph and even how new morphs have been created in the past. This book is the best literature on Leopard Geckos there is for the time being. I would highly suggest it for any level of experience a person has with these little guys.

This book is the truly the only book for any serious leopard gecko enthusiast. It covers all subjects thoroughly. I've read several leopard gecko books and they all have info that you can simply get off the internet. But this is the encyclopedia of leopard gecko books. I highly recommend this book. I also recommend joining a leopard gecko forum because you'll get the best up-to-date info that books can't do. ENJOY!!!

My friend really enjoyed the amount of quality information in this book. He is planning on breeding Leopard Geckos as a hobby and has been pleased with the thorough information on the color morphs of these Geckos, how to set up proper breeding groups, etc. It appears to be a worthwhile book to have for those who are thinking about, or already have, Leopard Geckos.
