My son loved this book!,

I teach math at a university, and I recently picked this book up for my 3 year old when I was at a conference. I thought the pictures did a nice job of illustrating basic addition concepts. My 3 year old loved counting the hershey's kisses and saying the addition facts. He was saying, "one plus one equals two, two plus one equals three, three plus one equals four. I'm learning my math mommy!" He was being introduced to math concepts, and he thought it was fun. That's exactly what I want him to think. Learning math is fun!

Yes you could look at this and say it is promoting unhealthy eating habits much more however; children respond to the fun nature of using candy. Have fun! I am a teacher and let my children use this at least once a year.

My niece and I love Jerry Pallotta's books, so I had high hopes for this one when I purchased it. It's ok, it's just not one of his best works. My niece got bored with this one fairly quickly, and I'm not entirely sure that she really grasped the addition concepts presented. Her question, "What's so special about math?" clearly showed me that this book did not hit home with her.
