Format: Hardcover
The long awaited 4th volume does not come close to the quality of the first three volumes. This book does a disservice to the quality of projects covered in the book. The graphic design/layout looks like a high school student laid it out [bad fonts, spacing, etc...].

The format/project layout has changed. Within the project layouts there are no large images. It looks as though they searched the internet for their project images and could only find a series of thumbnail images [which they then have haphazardly arrayed across a couple of pages]. You get 20 sub-par images in place of 5-6 high quality images. The paper quality is cheaper as well....not worth the price to say the least.

If I wasn't collecting the series of first editions I would put this book back up for sale. If you are looking for HdeM projects in this timeframe (97-01) go for the el Croquis series.

TOTAL HAIR BALL!

Format: Hardcover
I agree wholeheartedly with the reviewer before me. I just flipped through the fourth volume this weekend at a local bookstore and was surprised at the lack of quality and organization that made the first three volumes stand out amongst other HdeM monographs.

Granted, there are many more projects presented in this volume then others, but each project is given only a couple pages, with some writing and a smattering of small, almost indiscernible images of sketches and photos. The drawings (plans/sections/etc) of all of the projects are lumped together in the middle, and at the end of the book is a grouping of full sized images. The new format makes it rather difficult to fully comprehend each project, as you have to flip back and fourth several times to go between the project description, drawings, and photos. There is also a noticeable lack of documentation for each project compared to previous volumes, some only getting one or two large scale photos to go along with it. These facts, coupled with the new thin, flimsy matte-paper make this volume's price hard to justify. If you're looking for a better collection of HdeM's recent work, I would recommend El Croquis. Despite my desire to collect all of the volumes of this series, if there are not improvements made in a later edition I will sit this one out.
