3.0 out of 5 stars What happened here?!?
Anticipation was high when I read that Megaherz had a new CD out. Unfortunately I'm rather disappointed. Where is energy that came thru Megaherz' music on the Himmelfahrt & Kopfschuss CDs? Only one track on the CD sounded a bit like the Megaherz sound I love. *sigh*

5.0 out of 5 stars Zu den Sternen!, April 29, 2002
This review is from: Herzwerk II (Audio CD)
Two years have elapsed since the release of their last album "Himmelfahrt". A lot has happened during this time period. A new record label. A new Producer. Two new band members. Add these new beginnings with the founding core members (Alexx, X-tian, and Wenz) who remain steadfastly fixed on the goal of continuing to create amazing music....and the resulting masterpiece "Herzwerk II" is given life.

Stepping beyond the usual theme format of "sex, drugs, and rock n' roll"......Megaherz have included 3 songs with a definite political/social critique. "Glas und Tränen", "Rumpelstilzchen", and "Hand auf's Herz" propel the Text into the realm of world politics and social issues. Megaherz has always penned good solid Text, with a heavy dose of wit and bite. "Herzwerk II" is another brilliant masterpiece which blends intelligent, thoughtful, emotional Text with hard guitar riffs, pulsing bass and drums, and just enough electronic sounds and samples to set the music apart from traditional heavy metal music.

"Licht II" and "Gold" are two extravagant examples of industrial precision. Both rely heavily on the use of electronics and are perfect mood changes in the album, "Licht II" is a welcome break coming near the middle of the CD........and "Gold" is the perfect afterglow effect as the CD draws to its close.

"Herzwerk II" is the perfect blending of metal, melody, muscle, and muse. There is not one track on this CD that deserves less respect than any other. My personal favorites are "Heute schon gelebt?", "5 März", "Herzblut", and "Gold". I strongly recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of metal/industrial music. You will not be disappointed!

I love this band, and this album has not changed that opinion one bit. This album has less of a hip-hop / rap influence than Kopfschuss and is a little more rock. From the mandatory ballad-ish tune 'An Deinem Grab' to the faster rocking '5 März' this album exhibits 13 more reasons to make Megaherz one of your favorite bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Megaherz's best!, March 15, 2004

What is all this talk of Megaherz losing their "edge" on this album? No and no! The sound has become more multitextured and incorporates more electronics than before, but the sound is not soulless for being something more than a wailing guitar and a screaming vocalist. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but to contrast against those "soulless" accusations, I will say that both "5. März" and "An Deinem Grab" have made me cry. "Heute schon gelebt" is every bit as much a personal challenge to the listener to bolster his will as was "Schlag zurück". "Perfecte Droge" simply rocks, loud and hard. The disposable "Hand auf's Herz" is the only blemish to an otherwise perfect album. I wish former lead singer Alexx all the best with his Eisbrecher project, but if this album represents the birth of a new direction for Megaherz, I cannot wait for their next album. "Wie Phönix aus der Asche," nicht?

5.0 out of 5 stars Going out on a high note..., August 6, 2003

This is the last CD by Megaherz, at least with Alex Wesselsky as vocalist, and might I add it's the most polished. Each song builds on the solid strength of the other. Songs like 'Heute Schon Gelebt?' definitely deliver on the heavy-industrial level, and then you have 'Gold' which is pure elektronik. To put it simply - it sounds great and is an exciting, powerful escape from the dull American rock scene. If you like Rammstein, Oomph!, In Extremo, KMFDM, or Metal and/or Industrial whatsoever - you will be impressed by this album.

Wow, just when you thought Megaherz couldn't possibly get any better, Herzwerk II is released. Made up of 13 tracks that are just amazing. My favorite songs are An deinem Grab (at your grave) and 5. Mrz (fifth of march.)This is definately Megaherz's best album to date. This is yet another great example of German Industrial-Metal. This album will amaze you with its hard rifts and electric sounds. But it really does show a new side of Megaherz because they seem to be distancing themselves from the keyboard sound and seem to be going for a more live approach. Also, they have a new guitarist and drummer, who seem to bring their own styles to Megaherz. This album just bleeds emotion, listen to this with headfones real loud and you will be taken in by Herzwerk II. And believe me, you will not be able to turn this album off! If you love Rammstein or oomph! Megaherz will definately be a great addition to your cd collection. And after hearing Herzwerk II, you'll order their other albums in a heartbeat. And tell some of your friends about Megaherz, these guys deserve some recognition here in America.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most excellent Industrial Metal., April 8, 2005
This review is from: Herzwerk II (Audio CD)
This cd is amazing.....if you favor industrial metal/hard rock. Those who classify this as metal are dead wrong, however, as industrial hard rock this cd excels at all that it throws at you. From the opening Herzblut all the way through to Gold, this disc does something unique for German music that Rammstein won't.(And does not want to either.) The lyrics are powerful, the music solid, the electronics highlighting rather than overpowering the music. The vocals are perfect. The cd is damn near perfect. Perfekte Zehn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Herzwerk indeed!, December 4, 2002

This is my first Megaherz CD and it is incredible. I normally pay a little bit for CDs but the money I shelled out for this baby was totally worth it. It rocks, it rolls, it begs to be played loud. And proves that German is the perfect language for "ganz laut" music. However, I don't get the comparisons to Rammstein. Sure, they both sing in German and they both have loud guitars. But just cuz Poison sang in English and played guitar, you can't compare them to, say, Slayer. Since I haven't heard their previous CDs (I've only heard clips and seen the videos on their website), perhaps their earlier work was more similar to Rammstein. But to me, this CD sounds completely different from Rammstein (whom I also love). While Rammstein is more atmospheric, conceptual and sometimes downright creepy (which is a good thing), Megaherz is more straight-forward-rock-your-socks-off. Wie ein Apfel als eine Orange. Too bad Alex has left the band. And since he was one of the principle songwriters, the band will probably change. But it remains to be seen if that will be good or bad. Ich hoffe Megaherz rocks wieder!

A very emotional album from Germany's own Megaherz, pretty uninspiring however. Megaherz went throught a transition, they obtained two new members, but lost the more important thing... their edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album of the year - Herzwerk II, April 20, 2002
By

Be forewarned, this latest release from Megaherz, Herzerk II can be totally hazardous to innocent by standers. When listening to this brutal album, it is so good; it could bring the ... out of the listener. This album bleeds of absolute emotion containing every element from sadness (An Dienem Grab - At Your Grave) to intense anger (Glas und Tränen - Glass & Tears). Herzwerk II begs to be played LOUD - VERY LOUD!!!!!!!
There are many highlights in this disc, making it a must owned in any record collection. Some of my personal favorite tracks include the opening "Herzblut" (Blood Of The Heart) - roller coaster of emotion that contains melody and a...chorus "Give me the blood of your heart, spill it for me." The best track on the disc is definitely "Glas Und Tränen", however because of its brutality and its sheer ear splitting riffs and speed. Besides the great sound of this song, the screaming and chants of "Raining Glass" around the "Who still believes in the 10 commandments?" makes people around you want to cover their ears - a definite bonus! A couple other great songs include F.F.F. (Flesh For Fantasy), Heute Schon Grab? (Lived Yet Today?), and Perfekte Droge (The Perfect Drug).
Anyone who loves the sound that has been pioneered by fellow German rockers; Rammstein will really appreciate the sound brought by under recognized Megaherz. These guys will be a hit in the U.S. when people start recognizing them. Trust me, they definitely will get the recognition they deserve. BUY THIS ALBUM! You won't be disappointed.
Auf Wiedersehen!
