Alternative care saves a family,
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
This is the moving story of a mother's desperate attempts to find a cure for her very sick son who she fears is autistic. The fifth medical doctor they see says the boy is "at risk for autism" because of his health problems (severe allergies, chronic yeast, inability to absorb and utilize nutrients...), and his behavioral problems (head banging, toe walking, inability to speak, stimming...).
After being repeatedly disappointed with traditional medical care they go down the alternative health care path. Many practitioners make promises, but nothing helps. Fortunately, they finally meet an herbalist who knows what is causing his problems (aluminum) and how to treat him. His recovery is nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately their journey is not over. He later appears to regress emotionally, becoming neurotically afraid of just about everything. Sensory integration issues, such as hypersensitive hearing, and extreme sensitivity to tactile issues seem to come out of nowhere. Again, all things shared with the autistic spectrum. After suffering for some time, they find that all these new problems are being caused by parasites. After a parasite cleanse, he completely recovers, this time, for good. The book gives specific instructions on how to treat aluminum, yeast and parasites. The mother went on to study with the herbalist who made the boy's recovery possible, and in the appendix she includes the remedies for many other conditions normally considered incurable such as AIDS, Lupus, Crohn's, MS, and cancer, as well as less serious conditions such as acne and endometriosis.

A very insightful and powerful book,
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
Having grown up in the home of a conventional doctor, it was not easy for me to accept the ideology of alternative medicine. However, having witnessed the remarkable recovery of the author's son, my mindset began to change. Reading this book further helped my husband and I understand more fully the incredible benefits offered by holistic treatments, as well as the potential pitfalls of conventional medicine. It has inspired me to become more open-minded about alternative avenues and, as a result, both we and others we know have personally benefited. We are so thankful for the recovery of the author and her son, for having gained invaluable knowledge about our health, and for the inspiration provided by this book.

Compelling, inspiring, empowering,

This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
This book is the powerful, compelling account of a determined mother's battle to bring her son from a downward spiral of compounding illnesses back to health. The author herself experiences severe illness during her son's struggle. Merchent is courageous in the personal details she shares. Her turn from conventional to holistic treatments shows the strength of the author's open-mindedness to consider all possibilities, all solutions. To see Merchent journey through the pages of this book from desperation to relief to gratitude for her son's healing and her own is very moving. The power of this mother's faith and the power of her love are deeply inspiring. An empowering book.

The true-life story,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
He's Not Autistic But... is the true-life story of mother Tenna Merchent and her struggles with recurring illnesses in her son Clay. Though seemingly born healthy, at six weeks old Clay cried for hours if not constantly nursed, he frequently became seriously ill, and at two years old he could only say a few words and was prone to bang his head for no apparent reason, among other symptoms. Some of his symptoms resembled those of autistic spectrum disorder; as a further complication, Merchent also became chronically ill. Frustration and failure in the search a cure for herself and her son drove her from traditional medicine to alternative care. At last she discovered a master herbalist who worked a virtual miracle by revealing that aluminum poisoning was a primary cause of ill health for her and her son. Common sources of aluminum in an American diet include aluminum cans, aluminum and non-stick cookware, anti-caking agent in table sugar and salt (sea salt is better), baking powder, antiperspirant, emulsifiers in some processed cheese, a bleaching agent used to whiten flour, vaccines, antacids, and others. By eliminating such products from her own and her son's daily diet and routine, Merchent prompted a remarkable change for the better. Other uncovered problems, such as numerous allergies to miscellaneous substances and parasitic infections, were also treated more effectively by changing diet and lifestyle patterns and homeopathic remedies. Though He's Not Autistic But... recognizes there is a time, a place, and a need for traditional medicine, and also acknowledges the need for some vaccines, chapters reveal how sometimes the best medicine of all is simply to take good care of oneself and be pinpoint cautious concerning which substances go into or on one's body - whether food, personal care items, or vaccinations. Highly recommended.

This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
For those of you that are desperately searching for a cure for your autistic child, keep searching. In a nut shell, according to mom the boy had too much aluminum and yeast. So to cure it, among the usual things one would do for these problems, she "released" the aluminum by saying a little prayer and an alphanumeric code. She also used a pendulum to decide what kinds of medicines and dosages her son needed. In a sad way, this poorly written story just got funnier and funnier, and she explains how you don't even need to take supplements, you can just "imprint" the qualities and get the benefit this way. Apparently, you can even use these methods to cure cancer!
There are many great books on using alternative methods to treat autism, and we've had a lot of success with supplements and enzymes (rather than specialized diets) for my son. Read Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders, or Children with Starving Brains: A Medical Treatment Guide for Autism Spectrum Disorder] or [[ASIN:0972591850 Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Conditions (Updated Third Edition)and skip this book.

Taking Control,
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
This is the compelling story of a mother's love and devotion to her young son. The author recognizes early in her son's life that things are not normal for him. She, too, was plagued with constant illness. The seemingly endless struggle that she goes through trying to find help for him and for herself is heartbreaking. It really makes you stop and think about how trusting we are of the traditional medical community. It seems so easy and routine for doctors to open a prescription reference book and dispense medication as the cure-all. The author's determination for her son to live a normal, happy life is an inspiration to us all to trust our natural instincts in regards to our own health and the health of those we love. Her strong commitment to her family, her faith in God, trust in her own instincts, and countless hours of research lead to a happy ending for this family. I am pursuing this avenue for my own daughter who is plagued with severe allergies and asthma. In my opinion, the continuous dispensing of medication has not helped her...it is only harming her body in the long run. Thank you, Tenna, for sharing your story and giving me the knowledge, the courage, and the hope to find a healthy cure for her. It is time for us to take charge of our own lives!

The knowledge shared in the book "He's Not Autistic, But..." has the potential to change lives. Fortunately, Tenna Merchent had the courage to share her families' personal struggles with illness so others can benefit from their experiences. What makes this book so special are the simple, inexpensive solutions offered to cure many common ailments. I was able to successfully begin muscle testing and releasing on my own after reading it. This book has given me the confidence to personally improve my families health and wellness.

This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
It was like this Christian author opened my life and wrote a book about it. The amazing part was that I was not reading the book for information on autism, it was recommended so I could learn about alternative healing for cancer and other illnesses. What was so amazing is my child had very similar problems without the autism.....multi allergies..he beat his head from headaches, etc. and I too was sick and exhausted all the time. The medical field was ruining my sons little 18 month old body. I am rescued by honest people like Tenna Merchent who share the key to what God intended us to have. Healthy body and mind Naturally. Take note....We ALL can learn.

He's Not Autistic But,
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. The text is valuable on so many levels. The story holds valuable information and leads on herbal remedies. It will inspire others to observe their own diets and lifestyles. It tells a story of outstanding internal strengths; mother love, infant survival, faithful devotion and prayer. Their struggles will reach the hearts of all who read it.
I truly appreciate the bravery of her words. I appreciate her writing such an outspoken book against modern medical treatments. She speaks from the perspective of a true healer and has taken a bold stand. More people need to know how simple quality living can be, but how dire the consequences of neglecting our lifestyle becomes. It's too bad that knowledge of toxins isn't more commonplace.

This book offers great hope,
This review is from: He's Not Autistic But...: How We Pulled Our Son From the Mouth of the Abyss (Perfect Paperback)
As a parent of a child recently diagnosed with Autism, this book has offered me great hope. I see so many parallels between the author's son and my own son. The book is a testimony to the power of PRAYER in our lives. I have already seen the results of releasing the Aluminum with my son! It is nothing short of a miracle!! I, like the author, was pumping aluminum into my body while pregnant and nursing via prescription drugs (synthroid) and canned drinks...not to mention all the other sources of aluminum out there. I do believe that it really makes you sick! It has really opened my eyes!
I think all parents of autistic and those at risk for autism should read this book! |
