please, sir, may I have some more...?, November 23, 2007
This review is from: He's on Top: Erotic Stories of Male Dominance and Female Submission (Paperback)
Someone might think that a collection of stories all based on the same theme would be very repetitive. That someone would be very wrong! These stories are funny and poignant and sexy and I loved 'most every one - and I very much liked the rest. They feature characters that are complete beginners, professional-grade veterans, and all levels in between. The men "on top" are as varied as can be, and not a stereotypical one in the bunch. The first story that you can preview here on the site reeled me in and I was absolutely hooked from the moment the book arrived. I particularly loved "Yes," and my new favorite xmas story, "On the Twelfth Day..." Even the stories that I have read in other collections are worth taking the time for a second read (or a third, a tenth...). Highly recommended.

Like its companion volume SHE'S ON TOP (ISBN:1573442690) HE'S ON TOP explores Dominant/submissive erotic adventure from the point of view of the Dominant, but in this case it is the male who takes control.
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, this book of tales skillfully avoids the potential pitfalls of its theme. Men dominating women sexually is a loaded topic that in the wrong hands could produce a portrait of vulgar degradation. But in Ms. Bussel's hands it is always clear that no one is doing anything against their will - these women enjoy freely giving control to their male doms, and find much reward in doing so.
The anthology begins with N.T. Morley's "Not Until Dawn," a tale of exquisite erotic tension where a man repeatedly brings his lover to the edge of climax but stops just short of actual orgasm. When he finally gives his woman what she wants the result is a mind-blowing release of pleasure.
Other standouts include:
"Yes" by Donna George Storey is a scorchingly hot tale wherein a man's aphrodisiac is his woman's willingness to do anything for him - including being given to his friend for a short time to use as he pleases.
"A Good Reference" by Mackenzie Cross is a perfect answer to anyone who wonders what rewards Dominant/submissive play has in store for those in indulge in it.
Andrea Dale's "On The Twelfth Day..." is a beautiful Christmas present unwrapped over twelve days, and proves that romance is alive and well in the heart of BDSM.
"Brianne's Fire" by Amanda Earl is the story of a Master conductor's seduction of his star violinist, or is it the other way around? The story is a masterpiece, a fantasia of sensory details so vivid the reader feels like they've smelled the roses, tasted the wine and felt the leather on their own skin.
HE'S ON TOP concludes with a Master-ful (pun intended) tale called "Schoolgirl and Angel." Set in a BDSM club called The Sanctuary, the story shows a young leather Daddy finally becoming the best Master he can be with the erotic encouragement of two remarkable women, one his partner and the other a mesmerizing stranger.
HE'S ON TOP is a fabulous collection of hotter-than-hot stories of women and the male dominants they - freely, joyfully, and erotically - give up control to.
Highly recommended.

The title says it all in this exciting book and if you are into this, you will not be disappointed in this book. This is another of the few books of erotica out there that you don't mind sharing with your partner. Both can enjoy it without feeling embarrassed or put off. The writing is well done and tasteful, which surprised me, because I didn't like the cover. In fact, I almost passed it over because of the cover but decided to try it because of the great glowing reviews. I'm glad I did. But I took one star away from this book because of the cover and I hope the publisher will take note that just because a person likes erotica doesn't mean they want to see a pornagraphic image on the cover. For others who might be put off by this, let me just say that the rest of the book is done in good taste so you might want to give it a try.
