Book Description

October 8, 2009 BBC Audio
It's London, 1876. Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children - but Hetty must live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school. Life in the countryside is hard but she has 'brothers' Jem and Gideon to play with, and together they sneak off to visit the travelling circus. Hetty is mesmerised by the show, especially Madame Adeline and her performing horses. When she is returned to the Foundling Hospital, the new life of awful uniforms and terrible food is a struggle for Hetty. But now she has the chance to find her real mother. Could she really be the wonderful Madame Adeline? Or is the truth even more surprising? '...read by the author herself with all the liveliness this most lively of stories demands' - "Chichester Observer". 'A delightful and utterly original take on a historical novel, this warm, funny and moving story, read by Jacqueline Wilson, will thrill her many fans' - "Primary Times".

5.0 out of 5 stars Hetty Feather is soooo cool!!!!!, September 9, 2011
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hetty Feather (Paperback)
I really like Jacqueline Wlison, and I heard that she had published a new book. So I bought the new book on Kindle, and I read it. And it was a sort of like <The Story of Tracy Beaker>. Hetty was a tomboy, just like the other girls in her book. And Hetty formed a love line with her foster brother Jem(that was the part I really liked), and it was just so romantic! And the funniest part was when Hetty actually got the idea that Madame Adeline was her mother. But in the end, Hetty finally found her true mother, Ida. And Hetty found out her true name was actually Sappire Batterseas, and what a pretty name it was! I like that name. And at first I thought Hetty's mother was dead, but not in the end. I was really moved in the last part. But anyway, I love it. You have got to read it!!!!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hetty Feather (Paperback)
I like Jacqueline Wilson and I heard that she had a new book coming, so I bought it. It was called <Hetty Feather>, and when I read it, it was kinda like <The Story of Tracy Beaker>. I expecially like the last part when Hetty finally finds her true mom, Ida. And I found out that Hetty's true name is Sappire Batterseas, which is a very pretty name. And I like Hetty and Jem, because they have a love line and they are allways close friends. At first I throght Hetty's mom was dead, but I was wrong. So it's okay, I like it, and I love it!!!!! Hey, all you kids out there, you all gotta read it! It's very very fun~!!!!!

This review is from: Hetty Feather (Kindle Edition)
this book was really enjoyable and interesting. there were sad parts and exciting parts to the book with an unexpected ending. it was interesting to learn how people lived in the 1870's compared to today. Hetty, the main character had many sides to her personality. this was the longest book i ever finished because i really wanted to find out what happened at the end. very enjoyable and i recommend. alannah age 10
