I was surprised by how fast and reliable this printer has been. My office prints hundreds of pages per day and we have yet to have a single problem with this printer. It's relatively quiet, and it prints pages very quickly without sacrificing print quality. It all has a duplexer which allows for printing double-sided pages. We also haven't had a paperjam yet which is good. The only possible complaint I have is its paper tray capacity is a little small and it would cost $150 to add another paper tray. However, I highly recommend this printer for small workgroups or single users.

The 2200DSE is perhaps one of the best printers I've ever used. It's easy to install and is super fast(20ppm). Another plus is that it takes up little desk space. The print is great especially the greyscale graphics.

If you only have a USB hookup then you will not need anything else. It will not connect to a serial port. If you wish to connect to an ethernet system then you'll have to either order the 2200D or order the card directly from HP latter choice is less expensive. The card is easy to install-just snap it into the provided hub. If you have several computers that will use this printer then you'll need an ethernet hub connector.

I might add that if you need help, HP has the best support people with whom I've ever dealt.

This is a great printer for the home or the office. The duplexing unit was the main reason I purchased it - it saves me 50% on paper.

Also remember that you can upgrade this printer's memory from the standard 8MB to 72MB by purchasing two non-HP 32MB chips from any memory manufacturer. HP charges ten times the price for HP brand memory, but it's really just SDRAMs!

I've owned this one for several months, and overall I like it. It's the cheapest HP laserjet that provides duplex (double-sided) printing. No surprises, it's what you expect from an HP. Much faster than my old 5L. Can't tell how well built it is. It sounds "plasticky" when printing, but that's probably no big deal.

Several negatives: 1) kind of bulky, 2) somewhat noisier than my old 5L 3) if duplex is on, sends printouts of less than one page through twice, which slows down a quick printout. Not a huge deal, but still seems like a dumb design flaw.

My recent life has been a search for the perfect laser printer. I went [less costly] and fast, [less costly] and slow, but didn't get happy until I paid up for speed and accuracy. Sure this is pricey, but its sheer paper-handling acumen makes it a great buy. It does stacks of odd media, like postcards, in a jiffy. To think of the money I wasted at Kinko's while trying to save on a lesser machine! All hail HP!

PS: Yeah, it's noisy, and what is that plastic sound? No matter; it's a keeper.

All I wanted was a fast laser (I produce HUGE documents), and handles publicity materials like postcards. The 2200 dse initially seemed too expensive, but after heartbreaking struggles and large Kinko's bills (paying for something my own printer should have handled easily), I looked at this price range. No regrets! Easy to set up; blazing with little (if any) delay to first page printing, and handles media like envelopes and postcards -- stacks of them -- without breaking a sweat. HP rules!

It is noisy, and there is (as another reviewer notes) a goofy plastic sound. I'll live with it!
