Inkjet Review, May 26, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Hewlett Packard 2250 Business Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I have owned many HP products and this is one of the best. The quality is excellent and the speed good. If you are looking for something more than a personal deskjet printer and need or are considering one that can be networked, this is it. The only detraction for me was the paper sizes. It's limited to legal and I was hoping to do small posters.

My Squeeky 2250PS after 4 years... (review), April 20, 2003
This review is from: Hewlett Packard 2250 Business Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I bought my 2250PS from Fry's back in January 2001 and its been a reliable old mule over the past 48 months. It won't die. In our office is an HP4 Laserjet that we still use every day. Manufacture date: April 1994. It won't die either.
The bottom line: DO NOT BUY one of these unless you are prepared to own it for a LONG time. In other words, sexier, better printers will surface, but will they last as long as this Panzer tank? Probably not.
This beauty started squeeking when printing. I cleaned it though (qtips/alcohol/alcohol wipes from Walgreens) and it doesn't squeek any more. Like ALL HP printers, the rollers started pulling two sheets of paper when I tried to print on anything exotic. Cleaning the rollers fixed that too.
Definitely go to the HP site and get the latest drivers if you inherit/are stuck with this printer. Type in 2250 and click the little arrows.
The 2250 PCL driver can do amazing things -- print 4 pages on one page; the PostScript driver can also print amazingly accurate Illustrator proofs.
The printer honestly is somewhat of a workhorse. I am definitely keeping this printer until it dies or I die. My next printer however will be an Epson photo printer for printing photos. The 2250 certainly does a great job printing photos on HP paper. But it really was designed for printing Web pages and documents.
Recommendation: definitely print on good inkjet paper; don't just steal crummy copier paper from work! The 92 brightness Epson paper and the 108 brightness HP paper is beautiful. And come on, you're worth it!
Will this thing ever die? (review update #4 over the years...) Jan 2012: I finally took this amazing piece of 'kit' to the dump. It was still working. I just couldn't purchase ink any more. Amazing engineering...

HP 2250....not the workhorse I wanted but....., December 12, 2002
This review is from: Hewlett Packard 2250 Business Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I had used an HP IIP for at least five years and was finally to a point of each repair was at least a hundred dollars. The HP IIP is the same as you might see "Jessica Fletcher" use on "Murder She Wrote" at the beginning of the program. That was a great laser printer, a workhorse. When I decided to take the leap and purchase another, I asked the salesman for a color inkjet printer that would be yet another workhorse. The HP 2250 appears cheaper than the HP IIP, but it produces a quality copy. I find the speed to be adequate, but the only drawbacks I have concerning the printer is the cost of replacement cartridges and the unit is somewhat noisy and actually vibrates the maple table where it sits. I still would recommend this inkjet, although, if you don't need a color printer, I would opt for a less costly laser printer instead. The only advantage for me is the color copy capabilities.
