The Hewlett-Packard 2500CM Professional Series color printer is an ideal ink-jet printer for small businesses. It produces sensational color documents, thanks to exclusive PhotoREt II color layering technology. A front LCD panel and keypad permit easy operation.
The HP modular ink delivery system integrates separate print heads and ink cartridges to deliver speedy printing in color or monochrome. The 2500CM can print black text at up to 11 pages per minute in Econofast mode and nine pages per minute in normal mode. For color documents and graphics, the 2500CM blazes through at nine ppm in Econofast mode and three ppm in normal mode.
The 2500CM features two paper trays with 150- and 250-sheet capacity, which can expand to a maximum of 13 by 19 inches. The automatic size sensor will select the appropriate paper.
The networking capabilities of the 2500CM set this printer apart from similar models. It features 20 MB RAM and is upgradable to 76 MB. It has a built-in HP MIO print server and Adobe Postscript 3. It's compatible with Microsoft Windows 3.1x, 95, 98, NT 4.0, and MS-DOS applications.
With up to 12,000-pages-per-month capacity, the 2500CM can print from postcard to poster size on plain paper, transparencies, and more. It also has a one-year onsite warranty. --Megan Dugan

HP 2500...has many problems,

The HP 2500, while a good printer, is in the midst of several quality control problems. Several problems have occurred with the 9 that we have. Ink systems reading levels incorectly, squeaking components, and slow network printing. Print quality does not appear to be a problem. However, the many bugs in these HP printers still need to be worked out. HP has acknowledged the problems and at present do not have a fix for them. However, I am sure that they will in the future. If you do not need wide paper capability, I would suggest the HP 2250TN.

So far after using for several months I've been satisfied with its performance. Easy to setup out of the box though had to install the software a couple of times before getting it to work on the network. Great for wide format B-size drawings. Ink cartridges easy to work with and ink is dry by the time the paper hits the tray. Colors are crisp and text is sharp. Quiet operation compared to laser printers. Much easier to maintain than a laser.
