5.0 out of 5 stars Great Compact Home Office All-In-One
I bought this printer for my wife when she got in to business school and she has already given it a thorough work out. First off, the unit is quite compact. We replaced an older, slower LaserJet 600 series all-in one and it takes up less of our desktop. Speed is quite adequate for printing school papers. The built-in fax feature comes in very handy for people with...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
Like all the HP products I have owned, the printer worked well but that is where it ends. After almost a year of total frustration with the fax, I bought a Canon Multipass F50 (which is not a laser printer) and it has performed flawlessly. The 3200 owners manual, software and online service did not solve the constant fax problems. The only saving grace is that after...

We replaced an older, slower LaserJet 600 series all-in one and it takes up less of our desktop. Speed is quite adequate for printing school papers. The built-in fax feature comes in very handy for people with limited desktop space. The copy function is quite adequate. We have not used the scanning function, so I cannot comment on how it stacks up to stand alone models.

The only saving grace is that after two letters to HP, they replaced the unit with a newer model. Despite HP's repsonsiveness, it did not offset the unpleasant experience I had with their product and the fact that this product was released for production in the first place.

1.0 out of 5 stars No HP anymore, January 16, 2002

This review is from: Hewlett Packard 3200se LaserJet Printer/Fax/Copy/Scan (Office Product)

The software could be thrown away immediately - it's so buggy and dumb. The fax is unreliable - for some reason it would stop receiving faxes after a while - the unit would need resetting. HP support first sent replacement DIMM. Didn't help. Then they sent me another unit - didn't help either. Then I saw similar complaints at HP's user forum site - and I realized it's just an inherent problem having no solution. It seems like faxes are being accumulated in memory (although there's paper, and they're printed as received) and then not replaced or purged. So now I just periodically reset it ahead of time to avoid embarassment of my fax machine not being available on a regular basis.

Their support site is terrible, updates are posted rarely and mostly useless, yet they bug you to respond and rate them. I'd rather they make good products so people wouldn't have to live in those forums.

Overall, spare yourself trouble and look for something other than HP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value for Your Money, September 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hewlett Packard 3200se LaserJet Printer/Fax/Copy/Scan (Office Product)
We bought this LaserJet to replace an aging OfficeJet. We really wanted to get HP laser quality and with this price and special offer, it's really a great value for your money. My initial installation failed but after closing all programs except explorer and systray (as recommended by HP), the installation went very, very smooth. It's quiet, easy to use, and easy to set up in a small (SOHO) network. I can easily print from any computer in my house without any problems. I had to get the printer driver for Windows 2000 from the HP website for my office laptop but again, once I had it, installation without a problem.
If you want Laser quality (read: are tired of InkJet quality) and Print/Copy/Fax (Scan) functionality, this is the unit to consider!

2 units and several new bios chips later I returned it. It is a very large useless product.

1.0 out of 5 stars An inferior model, December 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hewlett Packard 3200se LaserJet Printer/Fax/Copy/Scan (Office Product)
I was very disappointed with the HP 3200se. I previously owned an HP 3100 (their earlier-model all-in-one with the same feature set) and was very happy with it, but when it was time for a replacement, I found to my vast regret that the 3200 is much less functional. The software is much more difficult to configure and use, and it was easier to disregard HP's "document manager" software entirely. The fax module was no longer compatible with my telephone and answering machine (although the old model had been); the fax often cut in and interrupted voice calls, and never worked reliably. I wouldn't buy this model again.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The Print quality is great, should get about 4500 pages per toner refill, a complete all in one solution with a small foot print-ideal for a home office.

This review is from: Hewlett Packard 3200se LaserJet Printer/Fax/Copy/Scan (Office Product)
I bought this printer/fax/scanner when I started business school as I wanted an all-in-one machine. Based on past experience, I only wanted an HP, so this was the model for me, so I thought....The setup was a complete hassle and required hours on the phone with HP customer service (at my own expense as they don't have a toll-free number. It turned out that the drivers that came on the CD-ROM in the box were outdated and would not work with Windows 2000. Further, since I had already installed them, there was no easy way to un-install them. A month after having the printer, HP still blames the problem on Microsoft (isn't this item supposed to be designed for Windows????). Although I can now print and fax, I have still not been able to use the scan feature. Further, I can't return the product to the store any longer. In summary, I am extremely disappointed in the product and would recommend taking a look at models by other manufacturers. But, if you don't take my advice, when you are on the phone with HP will you ask them to return my calls regarding complaint number 1428487861?

The print quality
