I had been to 4-5 stores looking for this tape cleaner cartridge and none had it. Most never hear of it. I went onto Amazon and it was there at a reasonable price. The tape cartridge worked well with no problems.

It brings sketchy or old drives back to life. Got an old HP SureStore DDS3 drive out of a junk pile from a retailer clearance, along with a box of wrapped, unused 12gb/25gb tapes. First thing it did when I stuck a new tape in? Ate it. Next thing it did? Fail every test (with another tape). Great. Well, that was a waste. Crapshoot: buy a cleaning tape like it's requesting."Aha! The tape is here!"... stuck it in. whirrr... whirr... whirr... click click... whirr... plop. Hmm. Well, let's try it now. Spliced the broken tape and ran an erase. It worked! Ran another few cleanings for good measure. Now it's working flawlessly! Wow. Yep, a cleaning tape might just bring back a presumably-dead drive from the dead. |
