I have had my HP 712C for nearly 3 years, and it has proven to be very reliable with no problems what so ever. This is my first printer, and because of the low cost I was very suprised at the quality of the print. The black & white text is professional quality, the color is true, and the color photographs are very nice. The biggest negative is the printing speed. Text is fast but graphics will try your patience. I believe that this is a great first printer for anyone. It is easy to use, easy to load fresh ink modules and paper. This is a good printer that I have been very happy with and would recommend.

I purchased a 712c HP injet printer so long ago I can't tell you when it was but it has been an outstanding printer. Never have any problems with it no matter what Windows(95, 98 or Me)I have used. You can print great colored pictures on it. I have a digital camera and it prints great 5x7 pictures and smaller ones. They look like I have had them developed. My only draw back right now is that I print a lot of pictures or picture cards so the printing speed is to slow for me for color printing. I wish HP would take trade-ins for a new Printer because this printer is in the same shape it was in when I purchased it and have not ever had to have it worked on. I just print a lot of pictures so I need a faster printer.

I've used this printer for years now, probably almost a decade. Early on I noticed the color printing was EXTREMELY slow, so I have only used it for BW prints for the past couple of years. When it was new and for about 3-4 years following, it never had a paper jam. It sucked up color ink after just a few dozen prints though.
Now it is, as I've said previously, much later in its years of usage, and I cannot print anything without it getting jammed. Even when I hand-feed it, at times it will shrivel up the paper brutally. Having been a (procrastinating) student in the past, it was to my horror to attempt to print out a paper due in class soon, and realize that it would completely fail to print at all after too many paper jams.

For its earlier years, I think it was a great product for the price. But throw it away after a decade or so aye.

First and foremost, I was an honors student when I recieved the printer back in highschool then a double major in college and still going strong. This little printer has been with me through the hundres and hundreds of papers I have written, brochures/programs, handouts etc... I have done it all with this little printer! What can I say? It is the perfect student printer. Unfortunatly, after all these years it has finally printed its last paper... The printer could be fixed b/c the only thing wrong is it jams and takes forever to print anything. I just feel its about time I get a new one. So I just bought a HP Deskjet 6940 from Amazon today. I'm nervous to say goodbye to my ancient user-friendly printer but hopefully the DeskJet 6940 will be just as good to me. Enjoy for new printer!

A lot of paper jams. Eats ink like water. Printer does not work after 12 months. Colors run. Paper comes out with waves from the wet ink. Slow. Makes a lot of noise.

Buy a bottle of soda and chew on the glass. You'll have a better time!

I've been using this printer for three years now; it is an excellent printer. I have never had any major problems, a few paper jams, but nothing unbearable. I've been looking for a new printer to replace it and I have found many other printers just as good and some better for a lot less money. If your going to buy this printer you may think about looking at some lower priced ones because you may be able to save money and get a better printer.

I really want to like this printer. When it prints, the results are wonderful. The problem is, to say it's prone to jamming up is an understatement. NOTHING I can do can keep this this running. I spend my days hand feeding it pages.... and still having 10+ sheets get destroyed in the process. I'll never buy another HP product in my life.
