Great unit but HEAVY, July 13, 2011
This review is from: Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion dv8t Quad Edition - Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit , Microsoft(R) Works 9.0, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB) , 6GB DDR3, 1 TB SATA HD, 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M, 18.4" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) , Lightscribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer , Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Espresso Black) , Intel Wireless-N Mini-card
I thought that the weight would not be an issue and I REALLY wanted the 18.4" screen. But with that thing sitting on my lap as I sit in a Hotel bed watching a BluRay Movie, is gets VERY Heavy AND HOT. I HAD to buy a cooling pad with USB fans. It is easier to set it beside me and watch while laying on my side. The laptop fan exhausts to the rear on to my knee and heats it up quickly if I do not use the cooler.
Boots quickly. Excellent 1080p picture. Good Contrast and Color Saturation. Fast page updates when surfing through the harddrive. I enjoy the security of the fingerprint login. The Finger recognition works easily, quickly and rarely errors out. The Web Camera is of very high quality.
The battery life is dismal. 45 minutes while watching a BluRay movie.
PROs: HUGE Screen, fingerprint Login, BluRay.
CONs: Weight, Heat, DISMAL battery life.
