5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great product
This is an amazingly fast machine for printing and scanning for a great price. I have been scanning all of my personal and business documents for two years. This allows me to avoid filing and storing paper. This machine allows you to scan documents quickly and then laser print them quickly when you need them. 1.0 out of 5 stars Awful support, impossible to set up (on a mac)
I have been trying to set up this printer/copier/scanner combo from HP on my Mac off and on for four months, and thus far the copy/scan features are completely useless to me, the printing is slow, and it often fails to work completely. Just installing the included software caused my mac to crash unexplainably over and over until I turned all the extensions off and went...

This review is from: Hewlett Packard Laserjet 1220 Print/Copy/Scan Laser Printer (Office Product)
This is an amazingly fast machine for printing and scanning for a great price. I have been scanning all of my personal and business documents for two years. This allows me to avoid filing and storing paper. This machine allows you to scan documents quickly and then laser print them quickly when you need them. I use my 1220 with Scansoft's PaperPort document management software. If you want to work with documents, forget color printers and flatbed scanners, get the HP LJ1220.

Here are a few items to consider.

1) The free HP Document/Image Management software does not yet work with Windows XP, so I recommend using Scansoft's PaperPort Deluxe.

2) If you were to purchase a Visioneer scanner with an ADF (automatic document feeder), you would pay more than you would for the entire HP LJ1220. It is like getting the laser printer for free.

3) There is no difference between the HP LJ1220 and the HP LJ1220cse. The HP LJ1220 is for HP's business resellers, where the LJ1220cse is for the consumer outlets. Again, they are the same.

This printer scanner is great for the busy professional who wants to scan Multi paged documents into pdf files. This machine is as simple as using a fax machine.

I have been trying to set up this printer/copier/scanner combo from HP on my Mac off and on for four months, and thus far the copy/scan features are completely useless to me, the printing is slow, and it often fails to work completely. Just installing the included software caused my mac to crash unexplainably over and over until I turned all the extensions off and went through them painstakingly one at a time to figure out which ones it didn't like. HP's support is so clandestine and difficult to navigate it may as well not exist. They have online chat support for plenty of their other products, but not for this one, probably because they know what a mountainous pain it is to set up. Their phone support number is long-distance! They do not have drivers for mac on their website. If you own a mac, DO NOT buy this product!
