Wallpaper match,

We were up and running with the OficeJet T45 in just a few minutes. To test, we scanned pictures of my new grandson and e-mailed them, printed them, and faxed them. All successful. Then my wife, looking for wallpaper, found a match to our current wallpaper, printed a sample, and we found it was a dead-on match when we held it up against the wall. Wow! We were impressed.

Compact, exceptionally easy setup, fast color printing, fax, copy and scan.I also have the big all-in-one with the flat-bed scanner and the T-45 is my favorite because it is so easy to use. The big boy (R80 multi-function, I think) is a better scanner if you're looking for very high quality but for all other uses the T-45 is much the better choice.

They were right.....just a few easy steps out of the box and I was up and running. I was very impressed by the print and color quality....even as a former HP Laserjet IIp user!

i run a small business out of my home and this satisfies my needs for printing, faxing, copying and scanning. with regard to scanning, other machines i had were just impossible to use -- botht the hardware and the software, whereas this machine pays for itself just with the quality and ease of use of its built in scanner. you just pop the photograph or text material in and away you go -- for pictures, you save with any file extension you can think of and for text it will save it directly into a Word file. the salesperson said it had a planned obscolescence of between 3 to 4 years (my last HP printer lasted exactly 4 years) and at this price for 4 years of all these features it's certainly worth it.

Overall I am happy with the T45 and recommend it. It is very straightforward to install and get started. It is not ideal if you don't have a dedicated phone line for fax, sometimes it fails to recognize incoming faxes, mainly from old style machines that don't constantly send a fax beep ahead of answer. Also setting the fax software is problematic, there is no obvious way of deleting a wrong entry into the phone book

T45 - A real junker!,

I purchased the T45 fax machine about 2 years ago. 5 months after I purchased it, paper started jamming while sending a fax. Not only that, if I'd send a multi page fax, 2 or 3 pages would run through at the same time thus causing us to refax entire documents. Now every piece of paper that travels through the machine get's ripped up. I never write bad reviews, mostly because I never get lemons. This however takes the cake. The junker cake.

I've had this for about 4 years now and is still working like a charm. I have used this for printing, copying, scaning, and faxing mainly. For these, it is perfect! EASE OF USE IS A PLUS! However, for printing graphics and picures it does not have very high quality in comparison to my Cannon S800, which is used soley for that purpose.

Excellent Printer with Low Ink Cost Per Page,
By Night Reader (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hewlett Packard OfficeJet T45 Multifunction Device (Office Product)
I've had this printer forever and it keeps chugging along. I recently purchased a new HP All-In-One, the HP L7780, to get its wireless capability, higher print speed, flatbed scanner and Windows Vista drivers. Although the new printer has better print quality and wireless, the cost per page for ink usage is almost double that of the T45.
I was shocked when I did the calculations, but they are correct. If you need a printer for all round use, but not necessarily photo quality output, you can't beat this old classic. Drivers for the T45 are available up through Windows XP.

I purchased my T45 in 1998, and have loved it ever since. Never once have I had a paperjam or any other problem. It was up and running in minutes, and the quality of print and photo is fantastic....
However....... I just bought a new computer with Windows Vista. I asked the salesperson if I'd be able to use my HP printer, and he said yes, you'd just need to go to the HP website and download the drivers for my particular model. I went to the website, where they had a list of printer model numbers.... and all you had to do was click on yours and it would bring up the drivers for downloading. When I clicked on the T45 a message came up saying that because this model is more than 7 years old, there will be no drivers provided for Vista. If you have Vista, you will have to buy something newer. Boy am I pissed... I realize this is their way of forcing people to buy more of their products, but who do they think they are deciding for everyone that a machine that works flawlessly must be replaced? The new computer is non-returnable because the CompUSA where I bought it is going out of business and all purchases were final... So now I have this fabulous printer/scanner/copier/fax machine that I cannot use and don't want to replace. Furthermore, as a college student I don't have the funds to replace it anyway. I emailed HP and told them I had had problems with them from the get-go (concerning my HP computer), and that this was the final straw... that I would likely have to find a way now to buy a new printer. But I assured them it would not be one of theirs. They even had the gall, when the page popped up saying they would not provide drivers for Vista for this product, to include a link to their line of printers so you could buy one of their new ones... The greed of this industry is pathetic..

Obsolete and 'old' does not = the need to replace!,

I have owned my T45 since late 1999, and thought it might be of interest to people considering buying a used one, to hear about how well this machine has stood the test of time for me. I use it at home for personal and small business functions - and I use them all. Printing, copying, scanning (though the built-in OCR software is rendered inoperative in the long-ago upgrade to Windows XP and needed to be replaced with other proprietary OCR software) and the FAX - which I use only to SEND because the high-speed connection does sot sync with being able to use it to receive faxes. For that, I use the free version of eFax. This machine has never let me down.
Often, I have caught myself looking at the sales in the Sunday ads for a new multi-function (or, as they are now called, all-in-one machines) - then I remind myself - there is nothing wrong with the one I have! Oh, I suppose cosmetically it's old-style beige is a clash with the newer black PC outfit - but if I am going to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a new gadget or toy - it might as well be on something I really need! The cartridges are still available - both from HP as well as from various 'refillers'; the print quality is very good the photos I print myself (using premium HP paper) come out quite nicely. and the FAX and copying work flawlessly. Yes, it is heavy- but I don't have much need to move it! So, if you need an 'all-in-one' and can find one of these puppies at a good price, you might save enough to buy a new digital camera.... or something else. Like me - old does not = useless! |
