It has a solid feel and is very bright.

I supported Christian in his Kickstarter campaign and could not be more pleased with his updates, customer support and the product.
Default program is very good, three brightness settings and a flasher mode.

Firstly I wanted to say thank you for this magnificent flashlight. It has served me quite well in my adventures and projects.

This weekend I did something rather stupid with it. I was refilling the differential on my car and needed a free hand. So I wedged the flashlight in between to coils of the rear spring. Because it was so conveniently placed, I forgot about it. I put the car back together, put it back on the ground and drove off. In the rain.

A few hours later (after erranding and whatnot) I arrived at my girlfriends house (~50 miles had been driven over some very rough roads and at highway speeds at this point). She asked what that light was under my car. Sure enough the flashlight was still there. Still on. And still pointing exactly where I had it hours earlier.

I jacked up the car, pulled it out and inspected it. There were only two little dents in the body (right above the battery and the circuit board). These dents couldn't be more than 1/64 of an inch deep. I was astonished at how well it survived. Attached is a picture of how I found it. (http://imgur.com/h3JMuIx) For the record, I drive a 1996 Lincoln Town Car, so this isn't a light or small vehicle.

So thank you. Thank you for building an awesome product. Thank you for making an industrial strength flashlight. Keep on making them!

I own two of these from the kickstarter event, and as a lifelong flashlight nerd they're the best lights I've ever owned. If I had children I'd expect to hand them down to them. By itself the light is durable, bright, and uses a great standard [if just in the flashlight world] battery to achieve fantastic runtimes. One could perhaps wish it were a bit smaller, but then it wouldn't be the light that it is. I am a techie among techies, and yes - a programmable flashlight is probably overkill for the vast majority of users, but even without being programmable it's hands down the best light I've had.

One great use for this is as a bicycle headlight, better in my opinion than any other bike light I've seen. I use this mount for night riding, and on full high it outputs light comparable to a vehicle's headlight. Usually we end up turning them down to medium or low so as to not blind oncoming vehicles.

Why knock down a star on such a fantastic light? I'm an open-source bigot and am rather disappointed the HexBright has been downgraded from "open source" to "programmable." There are some really cool things that could be done with this light and body if the plans were opened as originally proposed. You win some and lose some, it's still a great light.

I am a Cast Member at Disneyland, The Happiest Place on Earth...unless you are a flaslight. Disneyland eats flashlights like candy! My HexBright FLEX has survived the dangers of the World Famous Jungle Cruise. The wrath of Mara in The Temple of The Forbidden Eye. Signaled Steam trains on the Disneyland Railroad and helped guide thousands of guest during parades and fireworks shows. Never once has it failed me, my guest or even Doctor Jones. It's 500 lumen's of light can cut through the darkness of any night or any jungle in Adventureland. It's beam is more powerful than the lights on the Congo Queen. It has survied a dunk in the Ganges river with out a beat. I have recomended this light to several friends in Security and our Fire Department. It has a loyal following here at Disneyland. And you can program how it works. This light will not let you down.

I first learned of the FLEX in the December 2013 issue of Nuts and Volts magazine. The article was written by the entrepreneur/inventor, Christian Carlberg who described a product that conformed to my entire design wishlist for a flashlight, compact, rechargeable, rugged, weather resistant, and most importantly bright. Although the price, $99.95 seemed a bit steep for a flashlight, it promisesd everything I wanted, so I ordered one the same day.

The package arrived on the second business day after my order, and I couldn't wait to try it. It soon became apparent that I had received a defective unit. I emailed Christian about my problem, and he replied the same day with an offer of an expedited exchange at his expense, a black Friday rebate (I had missed the sale by a day) and a 'surprise' for my trouble. I felt the offer of the rebate was unnecessarily generous, so I declined. I had offered to provide a credit card number to expedite the return, but Christian took me at my word.

On the second business day the replacement arrived. It was everything I had hoped for and more. The FLEX is small yet hefty, and the design is beautiful. Christian had promised me that the working replacement would be blinding at its highest setting. I had to see for myself. I gave myself a momentary glimpse, reflected from a mirror 10' feet away. Blinding is the right word. It took my eyes 10-15 minutes to return to normal.

I was quite pleased with the 'surprises' that came with the replacement, a lens retainer tool and a redesigned lens retainer. I love my Flex. It's unlikely that anyone reading this will be shipped a defective unit, but in that unlikely event,, Hexbright's customer support is as good as it gets.
