"From the deliberately pixelated graphics to the tinny sound effects, there is something profoundly artistic about its mix of knowing aesthetics and stubborn lack of compromise."
- PocketGamer - Bronze Award

"A few gameplay elements make this the modern version of a retro shooter as it takes many leaps and bounds away from the minimalistic gameplay of the arcade hit."

"Hexage does an incredible job of reinventing the game that took the world by storm."
- App-Reciation Reviews

"As a retro-inspired shmup with nice graphics and solid controls, it does a good job."

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! February 26, 2012

A excellent galaga clone with an added story and different upgradeable weapon types. One minor annoyance is that there is no in game info on what each weapon type does. Playing the game and trying each weapon out is the way to learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun game! February 26, 2012
By Derek
I found this to be a fun game that I couldn't stop playing. I wish it was longer. I recommend it to fans of game like old school atari stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic arcade meets witty storyline February 26, 2012
Verified Purchase
Most of the low ratings for this app seem to concern problems with somebody's device, not the quality of the actual game itself! Firstly, I can tell you that this gem runs perfectly on the HTC Merge. Secondly, it provides an entertaining and at-times satirical narrative for classic arcade hits like Asteroids, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Stringing these games together with an unobtrusive electronica background and colorful pixel mashups of the original arcade graphics, the storyline and dialogue comes right from the pages of those old Atari manuals--you know, the B-movie descriptions of scenarios and worlds that simply couldn't be conveyed on screen back in the day, so the developers had to write them in the user guides? The storyline is hardly ingenious, but its lighthearted jokes at the player and CPU, combined with such entrancing visual quality, gives Radiant HD a high replay value. Reviewers who can't appreciate these inside jokes and, for that matter, the addictive simplicity of the games themselves, will be disappointed in the apparent shallowness. For someone like myself, however, it's a breath of air amidst the crowd of cartoon, commercialized apps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the game February 26, 2012
Verified Purchase
This game is incredibly simple, yet fun. I thought that it didn't save at first because there was no options menu that you can pull up to save games midway. After playing and stopping and coming back to the game I realized that it saves and you just start off where you finished. Changed from 4 to 5 stars now. Love this game. Reminds me of arcade games when I was a child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Arcade-Style Shooter September 3, 2012
Verified Purchase
If you enjoy games like Space Invaders or Galaga you'll feel right at home with Radiant HD. This is a very fun arcade-style space shooter. The controls are really easy, the ship fires automatically all you have to do is move it side to side to avoid enemy fire and to collect coins and upgrades. At the end of each wave you can spend the money you earn to buy weapon upgrades. The are a number of different weapons ranging from lasers, missiles, to spread-shots.

In between each wave you get a couple lines of dialog to keep the story going. There is a lot of humor in the writing and it can be a lot of fun to see the back and forth between your ship and the aliens. Visually the game looks pretty good. Enemies glow with bright neon colors and so do each of your weapons.

It would have been nice to a little more variety in the levels but other than that this is a really nice game. If your looking for a simple, fun, relaxing game, look no farther than Radiant HD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun for a bit March 1, 2012
Verified Purchase
There are some good things about this game. It plays great on my Kindle Fire. Autofire is a good thing. I can't imagine tapping the fire button for hours on a touch screen. It has a decent storyline. Also, contrary to what a reviewer said, even though the update says it has to uninstall, you do not lose your progress.

The multiple weapons seem like an interesting twist. That is, until you figure out that all you need is the disruptor laser. If you spend all your cash upgrading it, you can destroy anything. That lowers the replay value.
