Not as good as volume 1 but still worth buying...,

Wow... what a long one, 223 pages! Well, volume two picks up where we left off with Chiga and Kokusai and gets more into these two developing feelings for each other. Kokusai matures a bit more sexually to the point where he can actually figure out when he's being molested by strangers (oh dear). Not to mention how he's basically turned into a horny slut in this volume (yay!). Certainly makes for some hot reading.
Plot wise, you know... there's really not a lot going on, in my opinion. I don't think this one is as entertaining or as funny as volume one. Don't get me wrong, it's funny but more in the way of chuckling and not flat out laughing like I did during volume one. There are some shady characters still lingering in volume two but nothing further happens with the mysterious pervert that was running around in the first volume. He's still out there and it seems he's going to make an appearance at some point but when is still a mystery. I think this volume just didn't have the drama it needed and what it did provide was pretty weak. I would almost say this was more of a smut filler in the series. For something as long as 223 pages, the story isn't much farther along than when it started, if you ask me. Sex wise, we're doing pretty darn good. These boys can't keep their hands off of one another and their chosen locations to do it in are one thing that I did find to be pretty fun and unique. From diners, to alleys, to hospital rooms, to you name it. If you want a smutty title, this is definitely it. I did find that this volume suffers from the same problem I found in volume one and that is that either the translation is flawed or the way the speech bubbles are done is. There were many spots that either just didn't make sense or I found I was getting lost in. Illustration wise, it is on par with volume one. Kaori Monchi has a very sketchy way of illustrating her characters but I find I like it and it still makes for some sexy reading. Overall, if you loved volume one I would still say pick up volume two because this is a continuing series and I do think it is worth it. If you are looking for a really entertaining plot you may be disappointed but this is yaoi and for that it is pretty typical. If you want some really dirty smut, look no further. I think this one will make you very happy. Plot = B Characters = B+ Illustrations = A- Sexual Content = A Translation = B Overall Grade = B+

Volume 2 of Hey Class President returns us to the story of Kokusai (the class president) and Chiga his VP. However while volume 1 had a pretty cohesive story, volume 2 kind of meanders along while throwing in a heavy dose of sex. They are high school boys after all. Not that I mind the sex, because I don't. But to me it seemed like the story got lost a little amidst the sex fest. They'll do it in empty rooms, alleys, hospitals, pretty much anywhere they can. At the same time, Chiga is still trying to tell Kokusai that he loves him but somehow he just can't. On the other end, Kokusai starts freaking out about all the girls Chiga has slept with. And to top it all off they still haven't figured out who the stalker/molester was from volume 1.
That said, I still really enjoyed volume 2 and I'm looking forward to another book. I assume there will be more for us English speakers even though there's no release date at the moment (volume 3 is out in German with a different name if you look around Amazon). Kokusai is cute and naive though he's become more aware of the constant groping he's been getting. That did take a wee bit of the fun out of it since I love to watch Chiga yelling at his molesters. Oh well. And Chiga is an interesting character too. He's quiet and cool, experienced, and apparently has some temper problems which I hope will make for an interesting read later on. Volume 2 also has a good bit of humor, just not as much as volume 1. Even with the slight drop in storytelling I really enjoyed the book. It's also pretty long which is a nice surprise. Most yaoi manga are so short. I feel like I'm getting more for my money here. My only real complaint with the book is that, with the side characters I have trouble telling them apart. Chiga and Kokusai are easy to pick out, especially Chiga. Kondou (Chiga's best friend) is distinct enough too. But now we have a few more characters and I have trouble telling them apart. I think I'm going to have to go back and read both books over again to figure out exactly who they are. Character difficulties aside I like the art of the book. It's distinctive and pretty without being girly. The manga has a nice flow, probably on the slower side. There were plenty of panels to display the action so I never got lost like I do in some other manga. So I give it 4.5 stars, rounding down to 4 since some people might not be so excited about the slower pace of the manga this time.
