Review
For a young person who is about to get their feet wet in the U.S. job market, Jennie Withers' 'Hey Get A Job!' is the perfect place to start. Let's face it, teens need all the help they can get and this book is essentially a one-stop-shop for everything - from resume building to understanding pay stubs. Withers straight-forward, sometimes blunt, approach to finding and keeping a job is a refreshing change to some of the other employment resources which tend to sugar coat the process. Withers has a clever way of sprinkling in anecdotes and true-to-life scenarios, both of which capture the true essence of how all guides of this nature should be. 'Hey, Get A Job!' is an easy read; an informative read; a read that must be available in every U.S. school and library. No one told me just how tough the job market would be when I was 17. But, finally, here now is a book that tells teenagers like it is. This is a guide that will stand the test of time. --Erin L. McElveen, freelance author/blogger

Everything you need to find, land, and keep the job that s right for you can be found within these pages. With the advice of this book and a little effort, you will be working in no time! --Russ Peak, Youth Speaker and Author
The book is short, easy to read, in language teens will appreciate. It is full of text boxes with quotes of famous people from all walks of life, and graphics, which make it visually interesting. The stories help make the information relevant to teenagers, because it gives a frame of reference for information shared in the chapters. There are links, tips and strategies for everything from locating facts concerning teen labor laws to obtaining an application and an interview. It also touches on issues teens might face with finding a job that matches their needs and wants as well as dealing with uncomfortable situations that might arise with an employer or fellow workers. This book is well written. The language, writing style and layout of the book will appeal to younger readers, but the information is relevant to job seekers of any age. -- --Jamie Simmons, Middle School Business Teacher

About the Author
So about me, Jennie Withers. My first priority is being a mom. I am lucky to have two daughters, eight and five, who teach me something new every day. I am also stepmom to a very intelligent fifteen year old. I am married to a great guy who lets me, be me. We live and play in Boise, Idaho. I graduated from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho - GO BRONCOS! I started teaching in 1996. That's a long time to be in high school. I have taught Sophomore and Senior Language Arts, Reading, Creative Writing and Technical Reading and Writing. I enjoy watching (particularly Boise State football) and playing sports. I am an Idahoan so outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and fishing are a must. Of course, reading and writing are also important in my world. This book venture is not all about me, however. I am just the author. Denise Dunlap-Taylor is my editor, my business consultant, my technology guru and all the things that make my eyes glaze and my mind numb when they come up. I call Denise my Yoda. I also have Lisa Hlavinka who takes care of the graphic design of the books. I didn't know how visually challenged I was until she came on board. So that's about it for me. If you're interested in further credentials, there is a complete list on my website that will probably make me look magnificent and far less boring than I really am.
