5.0 out of 5 stars Great teaching tool for kids!, October 16, 1999
This review is from: Hey! That's Not What The Bible Says! (Hardcover)
First, a slightly-doctored Bible story (e.g., after Adam and Eve eat the fruit, they lived happily ever after; the lions put ketchup on Daniel before they ate him; Goliath and David became friends) - followed by a big "HEY! That's NOT what the Bible says!" - and then the REAL story, with a to-the-point message. (And, at the back of the book, excerpts from the relevant Scriptures). Stories go from Adam and Eve to the Resurrection of Jesus. Great learning book to read to young children, hilarious illustrations - you'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Approach for Teaching Bible Stories, January 20, 2011

This review is from: Hey! That's Not What The Bible Says! (Hardcover)
A friend introduced me to "That's Not What the Bible Says" and "That's Not What the Bible Says Two". It's a delightful way to get children re-interested in the most recognized Bible stories in an enjoyable way. Something is written about Jesus' birth, for example, but the story includes rocket ships, or other things very unlikely, totally wrong, but humorous. After the brief, made up story is completed, the book states, "That's not what the Bible Says!" and then the actual Bible story is briefly told. I think most parents and teachers would ask the children what the Bible says before reading that part, and/or what was wrong with the other imaginative story. The illustrations get one's attention as well. As an adult I was delighted with a new way used to review the Bible stories. I can hear the children howling now with laughter at the imaginary stories, and then feel so knowledgeable when they hear or tell the real story paraphrased. Written by CJ Hesse; Kissie is my dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey! What an amazing book!, May 31, 2007

Absolutely LOVE this book. I've used it to recap the lessons I've taught during our preschool chapel time. The book presents a story but in an altered way. The kids in my chapel LOVE to find the part that is wrong and are very quick to correct the story. Its a great way to see if your children are learning Bible stories! A definite for your library!

My kids (ages 7 & 9) have really enjoyed this book. Telling the stories the wrong way first, then the right way, really makes them memorable.
