Music is a Craft!,
By Rhune Scott (North Shore, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hey You (MP3 Download)
Hey You is wonderful collection of well-crafted songs. It is no different from Chris's other efforts, and shows, once again, that there are still excellent musicians that still care about every track they put out on an album. "In From the Outside" is a wonderful tune that features a guest appearance by fellow songsmiths, "Great Big Sea", and is tender and catchy. "Tear Choked Eye" shows more musical versitility with the same solid songwriting, featuring a Southwest flavor. That is probably the best feature of the album as a whole. It has numerous flavors of music. Yes, there are the catchy powerpop standards and troubadour tunes one might expect, but there are other influences like Celtic and Salsa that season the album. Easily another winner from Chris Trapper, and I just wish mainstream radio would give him a chance!

Found "Feelings without Weight" on Pandora, and haven't looked back. Amazing songs from start to finish.

An artist who's song writing is pure magic.,
This review is from: Hey, You (Audio CD)
Like his other works it's no surprise that this album is rock solid, front-to-back. The melodies are undeniably catchy and the lyrics are even better. The magic of Chris is that each song tells a story, with often a wink and a nod woven-in someplace. Perfumed Hair is contagious, as are Feelings Without Weight, Everytime I See You and Forget Me, just to name a few. This album is a great example of this amazing artist's depth of talent. I discovered Chris from his earlier work with the Push Stars and have continued to follow him into his solo career. Both of his catalogs ride at the very top of my playlist -- he is simply magic.
