5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, I've owned it for a while and can't get enough!
I was first surprised with the bloops and bleeps as I stuck the new CD in my CD player. I thought this is totally different from their first CD which just rocked the house, but I began to like the new Skillet. I found their lyrics are their strongest point and can just blow you away with their spirituality. I recomend this CD to anyone, ANYONE! I have become a true...

i recently saw skillet in concert at cornerstone music festival in bushnell illinois. i feel that their music has a strong message, but you can really feel it more watching them preform it. actually the cd struck me as a bit slow, but for those of you that like a lighter rock sound id definately recommend it, for you blindsiders out there i think youd agree with me in...

5.0 out of 5 stars It rocks! Everyone buy it!, May 4, 1999

This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
I hadn't heard too much of Skillet, until I went to one of their concerts. I became so totally obsessed with them after, and I still am after more than three months! My fave song is "More Faithful" although that's a very tough choice to make. They're all so good! The only song I don't really like is "Pour". It's a great song, but they shouldn't have stuck it between "More Faithful" and "Suspended In You", the two best songs on the album. More often than not, I skip over it. I also really love "Whirlwind". What powerful lyrics! I find "Scarecrow" to be the story of my life, and it is challenging me to change. Basically, this CD is a winner, because not only does it have powerful, God-centered lyrics, they are driven by equally powerful musical passion. I was also really impressed by all the band members humility as they were on stage. They didn't want people to worship them. All our worship went to God that evening.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best CD i've ever heard in my whole life, December 17, 1998

This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
Skillet is soo awesome. it is obvious that they love God and their songs are so fun to worship with. they definitely have the most unique sound i've ever heard. it's so cool how they can go from a techno song like "Deeper" right into a beautiful worship song like "More Faithful" They have varying styles and all of the songs rock. the CD is nothing short of a musical masterpiece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the Fire and into the Frying pan, May 13, 2000
This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
The lyrics skillet uses in this cd is captivating. They express thier faith by music that is a unique blend. They have nice rock sound, but the lead singer sounds a little soft, you have to listen to the cd a couple of times to understand what he is saying, but that shouldn't be a problem the cd rocks. This cd is recommended for anyone, even those who don't know Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long time Skillet fan's favorite CD, January 22, 2009
This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
I have every Skillet CD except for Comatose (the newest one), and I still like Hey You, I love Your Soul the best. Ken Steorts, their guitarist for their first two albums, was a great songwriter and it's a shame that he left after this album. This album and the two after it (Invincible and Alien Youth) had their techno mixed with hard rock style, but it was done the best on Hey You, I Love Your Soul by far. It is still one of my top favorite CDs of all time.
Highlights are Locked in a Cage, Whirlwind and Scarecrow, but my top favorite is Suspended in You. It is about preconceptions about Christianity and God being about following rules and the speaker in the lyric is afraid that God will put limits on him. But then when he comes to know God, he experiences the opposite: the freedom and growth coming from God with no limits. I love that song.
About Skillet's other albums (I don't feel like writing a separate review for each): Their first CD is pure rock without the tencho influence, and is very good but sounds a little unpolished/unprofessional or something. Some people will like that, but you can kindof tell it's their first album. Invincible and Alien Youth have a few very good songs on them but generally they are Skillet's least good albums. Those two seem less creative then their other CDs. On the Collide CD, they started new with a couple new members and another change in style for the better. I haven't gotten to know the Collide CD well yet, but so far I like it a lot, though I don't think it's quite as good as Hey You, I Love Your Soul. As for Comatose, I've only heard a couple songs from it on YouTube. The two songs Rebirthing and Whispers In the Dark are truly awesome songs. If the rest of the album were as good as those two songs, then it would be even better than Hey You, I Love Your Soul and that's saying a lot for me. Unfortunatly (and don't take my word on this, since it's not first hand), from the reviews I've read, I've gotten the impression that none of the other songs on the CD are near as good as those two songs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little different, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
I was put off y the more electric sound of this album that was a quite a departure from the more grunge sound of their self titled album. But after listening to the album a couple times I began to enjoy it. Not as good as the first or last three albums but still a solid work that conveys a message about God thorugh great rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars SKILLET ROCKS,MAN!, March 31, 2000

When I first borrowed this CD from my friend I was a little sceptical to believe that it would sound as good as she described it. I just thought it would be another christian prase and worship, which most of the time is mellow rather than alternative, which I'm into. But I was soooooo wrong! As soon as I put it on I was blown away by their sound, which is alterno-metal mixed with techno beat. Their lyrics are just awesome, using comparisons and a totally cool way of describing their emotions , they touch your soul with a great spiritual message presented with intellegence! My advice to you --Get SKILLET, and you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best c.d. you'll ever buy!, November 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
I have never bought(or listened to for that matter) a Christian c.d. My friend invited me to a Christian lock-in where Skillit was performing. They were absolutely amazing! I have never had so much fun at a concert in my life. I bought the c.d. right then and there, and it has replaced groups like Everclear and Third Eye Blind in my stereo. Who knew that Christian music could be so awesome?

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, May 15, 2000
This review is from: Hey You I Love Your Soul (Audio CD)
Just absolutely awesome. This is hardcore worship. A beautiful twist on both alternative Christian and on Worship. I was so tired of hearing the ordinary la-di-da Christian lyrics. But this--THIS ROCKS! It'll move your very soul!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite my taste but three awesome assuring songs!!, June 14, 2001

I got this CD a few years ago. Though I am skeptical to purchase another of their CDs there are three songs on this CD that make it worthwhile to buy. They are #4 Your Love, #5 More Faithful, #10 Whirlwind. These songs have helped calm me when I needed calming. They have assured me that God is in control when I needed to realize that. Any compilation tapes or CDs I come up with these three songs always make the cut. The rest of the CD is not quite my taste (maybe I am showing my age) but if you like harder music this would be for you.
