Wow, this boy just turns out pop classic after another. If you thought Breathing Tornadoes was incredible, which is was, you'll love Hey you, Yes you. It demonstates a richer, shapely side of Ben's musical demeanour and it oozes creativity. This album is extremely interesting without getting too deep with mushy or technical content. He goes from all out excitement with such hits as Running with Scissors, Run and the anthemic Music 4 the Young and Foolish to the captivating sounds of Chills, No Room To Bleed and In the Morning. Truly a masterpiece!!!

So this fella started writting and recording at a young age with his first band(noise addict). Then started a brilliant solo career, with so many hipsters helping out (memebers of That Dog, Hole, Money Mark, etc....) Then his label folded (the as well hipster Grand Royal), he got together with a, you guessed it, hipster actress (Claire Danes) and then goes on a bit of a sabatical. It would be easy to hate Ben Lee after all isn't he all things that any self respecting indie rocker would envy? And damn talented to boot, some folks are just that lucky. So four years after his brilliant Breathing Tornados, solo record number four arrives, and curse it all its amazing! You have to root for this guy because he writes such a good lyric, and soothing tunes. Ben's earlier records have been said to be very Beck-like, not so much with this release (what is that anyway? Beck is always evolving) With this record, if you must compare to something, is like a Gorillaz record( Dan The Automator produced this) without the rapping. Ben even at times sounds like Damon Alburn. But that is a cop out approach, because Ben is, and always has been, his own man, even when he was only a boy. There are so many singer song writters around these days, it's like a rivial of the 70's pop folk scene, so why should you pay attention to this one? Because Ben, unlike so many of his contemporaries doesn't forgot the thirty years that followed for equal inspiration.

This is Ben lee at his best, or perhaps I should say his next stage. It seems that his music just goes to higher levels each time he releases another cd. He started with the young and hopeful `grandpaw would', to the broken hearted and liberated `something to remember me by' to the epic and amazing `breathing tornados'; Ben lee now is back with a cd to show all that he's still around, and he's having fun doing it. Ben lee has always come out with a new sound and emotion, and ties it in with a history of brilliance. You will love his new raw outgoing style of `running with scissors' and `dirty mind', then easily reminded of the old Ben with tracks `chills' and `no room to bleed'. If you're a Ben lee fan and you don't have this album...what the hell is wrong with you...and to those who are interested... three things. Get it, love it, live it. Great album.

If you liked Breathing Tornadoes, you'll love this CD from Ben Lee. I listened to it three times in the first two days and I'm sure it will be in my CD player alot this fall. He has really progressed as a song writer, both musically, and lyrically.

This is a great cd, not as good as some Noise Addict stuff, but for me, the two are on completely different levels. Hey You, Yes You is a pop album, plain and simple, with hints of rock and folk and indie. All the songs are great, but my favorites are Something Borrowed, Chills, and Room to Bleed...Something Borrowed Something Blue is a classic rockish pop song, Chills is a fantastic slow Holcombe Waller-esque ballad, and Room to Bleed is just a great song. I would reccomend this album to most anybody, even indie/punk jerk-off hipsters like myself... just take it for what it is. Quality, catchy music.

Well...I've been into Ben Lee for about six years now and he keeps coming up with some great stuff. It's been really interesting to watch his gradual transition from a Hansonesque teen star to a rambling folk singer to a mature pseudo-techno-laced rock singer. "Hey you" is really a great album. I was kind of turned off at first because it seemed Ben's emphasis here was the background beats by Dan the Automator rather than songwriting (his real talent), but all of it gradually grew on me and I realized how great some of these songs are. My favorites are "Running with Scissors," "Something borrowed somethign blue," and the softer songs at the end of the album that are reminiscent of his earlier folkish work.

I'm in love with this CD. I just saw Ben live in my hometown and immediatly bought his cd and was lucky enough to meet him, he is so incredibly nice not to mention talented. The lyrics on this cd are great, the music (electronic and otherwise) is wonderful, and the song "No room to bleed" is AMAZING...when he played it live I actually cried, there was just something so heartfelt about it. I recommend this cd for anyone who loves true music and is sick of the crap played on MTV and the radio. I can hardly wait to order his earlier stuff...Anyone who doubts his talent as a songwriter and a musician is insane. He pours his heart and soul into his lyrics and music, so few artists do that these days...so please order this cd and support a TRUE artist.

I absolutely love the new Ben Lee cd!! Sad to say I've NEVER heard his earlier work and when I heard this CD I was instantly hooked.
"Dirty Mind", "Running with Scissors", and "Aftertaste" are a few of my favorite on this cd. But the WHOLE damn cd is GREAT! Even the 2 songs I dont really care for are really good.

ben lee's music has one unconditional constant - great lyrics, but it seems his sound is always evolving. In teaming up with a hip hop producer, i'm nether disapointed or impressed with the result, just content. HYYY has a regular home in my cd player, with highlights being the amazing 'No Room to Bleed' with a great piano riff, 'Dirty Mind' (which has nuthin to do with porn - but obviously more with politics and the definition of accepted values) and 'Something Borrowed, Something Blue.' Its not his best album, and if ur a Ben Lee newie, u may be betta off with 1998's 'Breathing Tornadoes, but it has its own sound (though possibly over produced).

To make this quick and easy - if you want Noise Addict or even his underrated litte-electrified "SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY" you won't find it here. If you LOVED TORNADOS, you will probably LOVE this record.
