I love this little model set! I much prefer it to the usual set that they sell at the bookstore, with the round atoms and bendable bonds- much bigger. The entire set is small enough to keep in my backpack all the time so I always have it in my O'Chem classes. The way the bonds are stiff is great to determine isomers and configurations, a huge improvement over the model sets most of the rest of my class uses.
Not sure what the other reviewer meant, bt my hydrogens (the little white balls) are white. My only complaint is that it'd be nice to have a set like this that a little larger- maybe 30% larger than this one. That seems to be about the place where I need to start substituting and using my imagination- a few more carbons and some bonds would make this even nicer, perhaps as a seperate mid-sized pack.

Good and Convenient,

Pros:
- Everything is small enough so that carrying this around isn't a hassle. You can easily leave this in your lap without it being a distraction on test day. - It comes with a convenient case that you can put in your booksack - Once you put a compound together, it looks really cool and similar to what you see on TV shows - It doesn't fall apart easily. - Molecular models are invaluable in Organic. They become really helpful in the Stereoisomers chapter. Unless you can spin a part of a huge molecule 90 degree (180 degree, and 280 degree) CW and CCW and draw out the result correctly, I suggest you buy one. One of my friends wouldn't buy a model at all, and I believe it's one of the reasons she struggled so much in Organic. Cons: - There aren't many red/blue/green pieces. It's not a big deal, cause you can always pretend a red is a blue piece (or a blue is a green piece). - Sometimes it's hard to take apart, but it does come with a bond puller, so it's not a big deal. Overall, I recommend it. I think you should shell out several more bucks to get something smaller and more convenient.

Ball and Stick Models,

Purchased this model kit while enrolled in Organic Chemistry and hate that I spent money on it. I never really used it, they were impossible to get off once put on, you tug and tug until finally the carbon or oxygen ball goes flying across the room. Not very conducive to use in a classroom setting because of time time put into breaking down the models. It is also a very small kit, I would suggest getting something a bit larger.
