I've had this extended battery, Hi-Capacity Camcorder Battery for: Sony DCR-HC96, for a little over a month now, and so far, so good. I use this with my Handycam DCR-HC96 and like all batteries, when it's fully charged, it says I have a lot of time (this one says about 200 minutes) but then when you use it, and zoom and change the focus, and use the LCD panel (rather than the eye-piece, is uses more "juice" from the battery than "normally" - so it does not really last 2 hours. However, with a 1 hour Sony tape, I've never ran out of battery power, and that's more than I shoot in one session, so this battery is working great for me. This extends a bit off the back of the camera, so if you do use the eye-piece, you need to pull the eye-piece out to extend it (which it is designed to do). Adding this larger battery adds a little more weight to the overall unit (than the small battery that came with it), but that is not a problem at all, given that the whole thing is so small in the first place.

The photo on the product shows an original Sony Battery. I paid the high price for this item because I didn't want any hassles with 3rd party batteries. Nothing on the order page indicates it is a 3rd party battery. The battery I received is a 3rd party battery and will not charge in the camera. It does work in the camera, so I'm just going to buy a cheap charger and use that. The product shown here is not the one you will receive. Just buy a cheaper 3rd party battery and you'll be better off than getting one from this deceptive page.
