Great value, but disappointing shortcomings,

I own a Kodak DCS Pro SLR/c and purchased this battery from Amazon. Disappointed to discover it is not delivered as illustrated. Turns out, the battery is separate from the body molding and latch assembly, which is held in place by 4 tiny screws. In other words, this battery does not come ready to use. You better have a Kodak battery ready to discard so you can salvage the endcap/latch assembly. Even then, the tiny screws required the very smallest Phillips precision screw driver I own, a Craftsman PH 000 X 40, small as or smaller than what would be used on eyeglasses.
Actually, considering Kodak is out of the pro DSLR business, beggars can't be choosers. I bought 4, because they are obviously priced for clearance. But buying a large number of batteries did not free me from the charger during long trips because I can only use one at a time due to the missing part. BTW - the camera latch assembly is clearly shown in the Amazon picture. I never knew it could be removed until I was forced to scavenge the part from my old exhausted battery. |
