4.0 out of 5 stars This is a great pop album from a young band, June 30, 2004
By Robin Hinch (Long Beach, CA United States) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Hi, Everything's Great (Audio CD)
A friend of mine is in a band (Maxeen) that was (and will be again) on tour with Limbeck. I came out to see Maxeen, but as I was about to leave (Maxeen's set was over), my friend convinced me that I should stick around to listen to Limbeck. I did, and I was glad that I had done so. These guys are young and very talented. The lyrics are irreverent, fun and strangely poetic. Every single song on the album has an incredible hook that draws the listener in (I dare you to not hum to yourself "It was a great desert, It is a great desert"...after listening to the song just twice...it's not even up to you...the hook is that good). Limbeck claims that they are influenced by the the Beach Boys, The Replacements, Graham Parsons and Big Star. These are all true. But, I here A LOT of fIREHOSE in this band (another great band -now long gone- from San Pedro, CAlifornia). Limbeck delivers great hooks, tons of telecaster twang, tight harmonies and songs that make one imagine the landscape of America, and the friendships that make this place possible. The CD drags a bit from track 7-10, but picks up with two AMAZING songs (tracks 11 and 12) to finish the album. I can't imagine a better band coming from the city of Orange (or any place in Orange County for that matter). Limbeck is a band full of soul and hooks, coming from a place that tends to suck the soul dry. Thanks, guys. I will be at your next show. Buy this record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy at Bluecollar instead, January 31, 2005
By M. Torres (Lawrence, KS United States) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Hi, Everything's Great (Audio CD)
First off, let me recommend purchasing this CD from http://www.bluecollardistro.com/ if you want a more personal touch to your order. It's a smaller company in Kansas that handles this band's merch.

Anyway. I started dating a girl who likes this band and I have to admit when I first heard this album, I didn't much care for it. I normally can't get myself to listen to anything "poppy" for some reason. I have this hang up where the music has to be "dark" or "obscure". It's retarded but I'm workin' on it. Anyway, after hearing this CD in her car a few times, I bought the CD after a show for $10 and after a few straight-thru listens during my commute to work, it has REALLY grown on me. I've found myself with the songs stuck in my head at work, and I've even been trying to learn to play a few songs on my acoustic. It's just good, fun, well-written twangy rock with a good vocalist and a good vibe. This band also has a great stage presence.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible!, June 15, 2004
By Kristi! (maine :)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hi, Everything's Great (Audio CD)
This cd is honestly amazing. I saw these guys a few months back with the Early November and the Progress. They blew me away. They rock on stage and give off this incredible energy. I purchased the cd before i left and listened to it the whole ride back home. There is not one bad song on here. The first track is my favorite. This cd is exceptional if you're planning a road trip anytime soon. This cd has become a staple in my stereo. All in all... this cd is completely rad and it is well worth your money!
