4.0 out of 5 stars This is a great pop album from a young band, June 30, 2004

A friend of mine is in a band (Maxeen) that was (and will be again) on tour with Limbeck. I came out to see Maxeen, but as I was about to leave (Maxeen's set was over), my friend convinced me that I should stick around to listen to Limbeck. I did, and I was glad that I had done so. These guys are young and very talented. The lyrics are irreverent, fun and strangely poetic. Every single song on the album has an incredible hook that draws the listener in (I dare you to not hum to yourself "It was a great desert, It is a great desert"...after listening to the song just twice...it's not even up to you...the hook is that good). Limbeck claims that they are influenced by the the Beach Boys, The Replacements, Graham Parsons and Big Star. These are all true. But, I here A LOT of fIREHOSE in this band (another great band -now long gone- from San Pedro, CAlifornia). Limbeck delivers great hooks, tons of telecaster twang, tight harmonies and songs that make one imagine the landscape of America, and the friendships that make this place possible. The CD drags a bit from track 7-10, but picks up with two AMAZING songs (tracks 11 and 12) to finish the album. I can't imagine a better band coming from the city of Orange (or any place in Orange County for that matter). Limbeck is a band full of soul and hooks, coming from a place that tends to suck the soul dry. Thanks, guys. I will be at your next show. Buy this record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy at Bluecollar instead, January 31, 2005

First off, let me recommend purchasing this CD from http://www.bluecollardistro.com/ if you want a more personal touch to your order. It's a smaller company in Kansas that handles this band's merch.

Anyway. I started dating a girl who likes this band and I have to admit when I first heard this album, I didn't much care for it. I normally can't get myself to listen to anything "poppy" for some reason. I have this hang up where the music has to be "dark" or "obscure". It's retarded but I'm workin' on it. Anyway, after hearing this CD in her car a few times, I bought the CD after a show for $10 and after a few straight-thru listens during my commute to work, it has REALLY grown on me. I've found myself with the songs stuck in my head at work, and I've even been trying to learn to play a few songs on my acoustic. It's just good, fun, well-written twangy rock with a good vocalist and a good vibe. This band also has a great stage presence.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible!, June 15, 2004

This cd is honestly amazing. I saw these guys a few months back with the Early November and the Progress. They blew me away. They rock on stage and give off this incredible energy. I purchased the cd before i left and listened to it the whole ride back home. There is not one bad song on here. The first track is my favorite. This cd is exceptional if you're planning a road trip anytime soon. This cd has become a staple in my stereo. All in all... this cd is completely rad and it is well worth your money!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite records right now., July 7, 2003

I bought this cd because I saw them open up for the All American Rejects and thought they were awesome. This record is even better than I imagined.

What separates this record from what i've bought recently is the lyrics and how catchy they are.

I think if you like bands like the Weakerthans and Jets to brazil I suggest this.

The packaging on the record is amazing too!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love Limbeck., November 21, 2003

Limbeck's Hi Everything's Great is wonderful. If you're looking for music where you can sit back and relax, this is it. I would have given this a 5, but if you listen to it over and over (i've listened to the whole cd more than 20 times) then you'd get tired of it. Don't let my comment make you change your mind though! Just be smart to listen to everything and not just one repeated cd like I did.. but it was only because I loved the cd. :) my reccomendation: BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing cd. drove across the country listening to it..., October 28, 2003

This review is from: Hi, Everything's Great (Audio CD)
I got this record just before embarking on driving across the country by myself. I listened to it probably about 15 times the whole trip and once I got to california all of the freeway references started to make sense. If you listen to the lyrics the singer gets stuck on the 22 freeway, now i know how he feels!

This record is soo good. Sooo Catchy. I really recommend it to anyone who likes poppy, alt countryish, good music.

I found a site where you can listen to the whole album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Limbeck take on the open road, July 19, 2003

When I first ordered the cd I was expecting another spectacular album like "this chapter is called titles." Boy, I was wrong, but not too wrong. It took me a few listens but damn, I got hooked fast. Their sound changed more from those mellow sappy love tunes to a story of the American landscape (and American girls of course). When I listen to the cd in the car, it makes me feel like im driving down the 22 or I-5 and thinking about that special somebody. Thanks Limbeck, I hope they come back to La Jolla real soon. Great guys.

I just saw Limbeck ROCK OUT in So.Cal. WOW they are awesome, great stage presence, great great unique catchy music! It's got the vibe of Ryan Adams and Pete Yorn and Wilco but with a poppy twist. Or maybe the other way around... hmm. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. AND POLITE YOUNG HANDSOME BOYS.

5.0 out of 5 stars LIMB-TASTIC-BECK, June 23, 2003

This review is from: Hi, Everything's Great (Audio CD)
Limbeck are one of the few native Orange County bands that I actually enjoy listening to. Having listened to Limbeck since their early days, I can say that from hearing their previous material the band has matured in their songwriting abilities. The new album offers a familiar Limbeck sound heard on the previous albums but also shows the bands growth musically with new interesting guitar riffs that give the album its own ground to stand on. If your a fan of nice rock then you will enjoy this album. All the songs are very upbeat and focus on the beautiful things we so often overlook in life. Each song is a tale told of the individuals outlook on his life at the moment. I wouldnt know who to compare them to because they are in a field of their own. Wonderful vocals and friendly attittudes make this, overall a great album, maturity and musicianship have been very kind to the boys of limbeck.Best of luck to the band. Check them out if you enjoy good fun rock music.xoxox
